Silent Hunter IV: U-boat Missions attacking problem

Hello, fellow sailors!

When i engage some kind of a ship (Manually of course), i set the range, AOB then wait 30sec and set the range and AOB again, then i find the speed too automaticly (I would find it manually, but i can't with the damn u-boat, because you can't set it manually) anyway, when i set the torpedo settings and i'm ready to fire, then i always check the "attack map", just in case. Now the problem is that when i check it, then the torpedos course is off (Bearing).
I have always done it, it has always worked, but that damn u-boat screws everything up, i can't hit anything with u-boats, only with US submarines.
Does the u-boats have diffrent targeting system? Or the same?

(Hope you understand, what i'm trying to explain)

Good hunting!

U-Boats are very different.

I think the notepad tool on the periscope screen is broken. Try using it to obtain the target info, and then inputting it into the KiUB on the attack map. If you're using OM, then the Karamazov KiUB on the periscope screen, in OMPLOT or OMEGU is much better - but the game is far more prone to crashing - either way, use the attack map dials to set your torpedo data, even if you get it from the periscope tools.

It is not the boats fault ... I was frustrated too when I switch over to U-Boats but I learned I was the fault not the boats.
I run U-Boats almost exclusively now. I do not worry to much about all the settings I only need to position myself correctly. My normal firing solution goes like this:

1. Find target
2. Set intercept course to be ahead of the target and 800 meters perpendicular to it's tract.
3. Rough sea I set the fish to magnetic detonators. Calm sea I set to contact or magnetic but mostly magnetic detonators. Contact detonators tend to have premature detonations in rough seas.
4. Set speed ahead slow.
5. Watch the approaching target while telling the crew how juicy she is and how that might correlate to a voluptuous woman exploding in my ...
6. OPEN ALL OUTER DOORS I INTEND TO FIRE, failure to do this will result in me not being responsible for you not hitting anything.
7. Set periscope to ZERO before firing. TAKE METAL NOTE, is this a merchant or capital ship. If this is a capital ship I will watch the ship and when she is 15 degrees from ZERO I throw the scope to Zero and fire. If this is a merchant ship I will wait until the ship is at 10 degrees from ZERO and then put the scope to ZERO and fire.

At 1000 meters and less I have a 90% hit rate. No they do not all explode but hey that is Hitlers fault. All my calculations are simply judgment calls as to how far to lead the ship and then swing over to ZERO and fire. This works with stern tubes {subsitute 180 for ZERO} as well as with forward tubes.

This method will work whether the ship is at a Port to Starboard course or a Starboard to Port course. It is simply leading the target just as you would hunter a deer or snipping a soldier. I have hit Battleships, Carriers and many merchants using this method. I have found the British Escorts to be very lacks in their ASW countermeasures. All ahead flank, lanuch counter measures decoys, drop to 110 meters and run silent and you will have good luck avoiding the escorts.

This may or may not help, but I think a 30 sec. interval is too short for any kind of accurate speed estimate. I usually wait at least 3 minutes, unless the range is very short.
