Codebooks for Roleplay and PvP Use

:salute: Hello everyone!
I made these code books in Google docs. They are spreadsheets and you can save a copy yourself and modify them how you like.

2 Versions: The first is for roleplay use, codes change twice per day and use all wheel positions 0-9.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

The second version is for fleet PvP. Codes change twice per hour and use only wheel positions 0-3. This so that the 2 teams have a reasonable chance to decrypt the other teams messages in time.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

For example: Sub A and B are on team 1. Sub Y and Z are on team 2. AB and YZ can communicate using their teams code book, however with only 48 possible combinations of wheel settings, messages will be less secure depending on the volume of messages sent and also the time from the previous code change. Just something for the captain to keep in mind.

Codes were generated using Random.org

I noticed a bug. The one setting needs to be used at one point in time. Some crew are from USA and some crew are from Sweden etc..
Different time zones.

Universal GMT might be a suggestion.

I had considered this. Crews will need to decide on a common timezone before the match begins. Code changes can also be coordinated at specific intervals, not just the top or bottom of the hour. For PvP it would be a good idea to choose an arbitrary schedule to change the codes. That being said, if there were a clock in the sub it would be a nice feature.

Thank you for the input, I had neglected to note that in the original post.

A reliable clock on board will be an absolute requirement for manual navigation, never mind communication.

I spotted an additional bug: the codebooks are public, and all PvP sides get the same one! You don't even need to crack the code, just look it up in the book.

Yes they are all public for now, no cheating! :D The 3 teams have unique codes.

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 07:00 PM.
