Reducing amount of aircraft spawns

Does anyone know where in the .cfg files I need to go to reduce the rate at which the AI spawns enemy aircraft, the're EVERYWHERE pre '44

Use a plain text editor and start noodling in "Data / Cfg / Airstrike.cfg". That would be about the easiest way. There is a cryptic "tutorial" up top of the file, but the "Maximum Aircraft Range" can be shortened, the "modifiers" below that can be slightly reduced. Do ~small~ steps, like no more than one tenth of a point at a time. Those number are used to multiply in equations. The "Default Air Strike Probability" is probably the "strongest" modifier, and you might be able to go down one half (0.5), depending upon what it is now. The "Logic Steps Between" could be increased, so that it takes longer to "calculate" all over again.

Now, as to the "Enemy Air Strike Probability..." lines, notice they mention "radio messages" and "Player Detection". You influence those with the way you play the game. If you are sending Contact Reports and Status Updates all of the time, and strolling about on the surface and not crash diving prior to actually "seeing" the airplane, then they will come get you, and they'll bring their little surface buddies with too!... That influences the airplane level more than anything - unless you're in a U-Boat, and then you may as well start practicing up the bend over backwards routine, and get ready to kiss the backside goodbye!... :o :har: You ain't gettin' away from no planes then...

Let us know how you get along with your approach to it! :salute:

btw, that airstrike file is much easier to read on a wide-screen monitor, full-size the text disply...
