Fresh install
 

Hi guy's, Fresh install of SH4 on Windows 11 from Ubisoft.
I did a fresh windows install a few days ago and reinstalled SH4 from Ubisoft.
Now I have installed SH4 from Ubisoft on this machine plenty of times but I usually play with TMO.
Well decided to try vanilla but the issue I am facing is there is no content,
I launch the game, if I go to quick missions there is nothing there and even if I select switch side there is nothing there as well. Nothing in submarine school either.
If I try to start a career once I get to my desk and click on the map it just gives me a mission error.
I even tried a re-install while making sure I deleted everything that was in "my Documents" without any luck.
I have SH4 installed in C:SH4 making sure it's not in program files.

This was a 100% bone stock fresh install so no JSGME was installed.

I wanted to play vanilla but I ended up installing TMO and everything was fine after that but I am very confused why the stock game had 0 content.

I just uninstalled and put in one of my spare SSD's and reinstalled SH4 on that drive and still there is 0 content in the game.
Even when I go to quick missions there isn't anything there.

Think something with Windows is messing with SH4 but I cannot find anything.

ok, let's back up.
you are using Win11 and installing SH4 plus TMO and RFB but not using JGSME.
this could be why you are not seeing content.

which version of SH4 do you own a license for?

next, seriously consider using Jones Software tool to apply your mod set. if you were attempting to apply a mod set without JSGME, it would be interesting to know how you are applying it, because that could be another reason you are seeing no content.

Go back and read my first post, I initially tried SH4 vanilla.
I then installed TMO and got it working.

So my issue is with vanilla SH4 no JSGME needed for a vanilla install.
I own SH4 gold edition that I have owned for years bought the ubisoft.

At any rate I just re-installed Windows 11 for the 2nd time this weekend and now vanilla SH4 is working properly.

Had you updated the UPlay to UConnect by chance sultan.of.swing? An older version of the Ubisoft game will have UPlay. The newer version uses UConnect. I have not looked at my installs to see if the folder structure is different between the two "starter" apps, and I am away from my gaming computer for a while... ??

It is the newest uplay app which I have been using anyway, It was something with Windows that was causing the issue as a fresh install solved it.
I keep all my games on a separate drive so after I Re-loaded Windows I just installed uplay and pointed it to my old install and it worked perfectly.

You don't need Uplay anyway it's 'MdR'...!!'LoL'..
I have a Disc version there is no problem .. no Uplay ...
I would even add that Ubisoft are in total loss of altitude...
they "sell off" their games on Steam.. I remember a while ago... the commercial 'Ubi' said that he would not sell on Steam..
they only get what they deserve by dint of taking us for fools...no capitalism...quality above all...
they must have forgotten who made them rich in the past.. the PC players
