I am a woman

No comment form me. The topic illustrated is so obviously stupid and revealing that it needs no comment. The story is true.

No text was clicked as often this month as the announcement about the green man running for the women's quota. But ... he wasn't serious. With his action, David Allison only wanted to lead the plan of his own party to make the transition into law via “speech act” ad absurdum. And he succeeded! Here is the whole text!
---------------------------------------------------------

The general assembly of my district association takes place in a multi-purpose hall in the country. I brought a leaflet that I made myself and that I give to the members. There are two sentences on it from the basic program and the women's statute: 1. “All people have the exclusive right to define their gender.” 2. “The term 'women' includes all who define themselves in this way.” With some I say to people I know better: “I am running for election to the board this evening. As a woman. ”Smile, surprised looks, amazement. -

The meeting is opened. The cash report follows, 30 minutes. My tension increases. Finally: the election of the board. The first ballot is for the women’s seats. Person Y. answers. She wants to continue to be on the board. Nothing else happens for a moment. People look around the hall to see if another woman answers. I get up and say: “I'm running.” “In a women's place?” asks a board member. "Yes," I say. "I am a woman. Today I define myself as a woman and refer to the green basic program and the women's statute. "-

It gets quiet. "You are a woman and want to apply?" -

"Yes." -

I haven't disguised myself, my behavior and outward appearance are as always. Even more: I have a three-day beard and wear black chinos and a light blue collar shirt with a cardigan. I look like an average, stuffy, aging man. -

The board now consults and quickly decides: Okay! Understood! I am allowed to run. Now I am being asked about my candidacy. “Are you really a woman?” Is the first question. “I define myself as a woman,” I reply. “How do you feel, how far has your transition progressed? Do you already know other trans people? Have you dealt with this topic? ”“ It's not about how I feel, ”I answer,“ but rather that I define myself as a woman. And yes, I have dealt with the topic. "-

The room becomes quiet again. I step forward to the lectern to give a short application speech. “I'm running for the board. Many of you will know me. I live in town X. I was in the district council and on the district committee for a few years. I live in a happy lesbian relationship with my cis gender wife. We have two children. I am applying for a women's position based on the regulations in the basic program and in the women's statute. It does not say: 'Anyone who presents themselves as believable, credible or plausible as a woman is considered a woman.' It also does not say: 'Anyone who wears a wig and dress may see themselves as a woman.' It simply says: 'Whoever is a woman is defined as a woman. "This regulation allows me to apply for a woman's position on the board this evening." (...) -

I go back to my place. There are no further questions. - It will be voted. I get three votes. -

During the break there are different reactions outside the hall. My actions are rated partly as “provocative” and partly as “positive”. One woman says she does believe that one could have been born in the wrong body. A mandate holder is upset. She found the action "****". It had a "disturbing" effect on the members. But the election result showed, she says, that the party has good protection mechanisms and that not just any men are elected. She does not in any way question the Green Statutes, which the board of directors has forced to act. Most of the members show no reaction at all to me. In the hall a young woman goes to the lectern and thanks me for my courage. -

A pure speech act, the simple statement “I am a woman”, was enough for those present to make me a woman under party law. It is disturbing that none of the 30 to 40 members of the Greens present objected to my candidacy. The board approved the candidacy and legitimized me as a 'woman'. Nobody dared to say: “Here is a man.” It dawns on me: My party is serious about the abolition of the body-based gender concept in law. Resistance from my Green Party friends, even if they disagree, is still a long time coming. “A green man can do anything,” I think.
