Too funny... :haha:
In looking at that old video, it reminded me of a young lady hairstylist who I dated and who used to cut my hair (I stopped letting her cut my hair after we split; I didn't think it wise to let someone with sharp instruments near my neck who might harbor any animosity). She used to cut the hair of some celebs and someone referred Queen bassist John Deacon to her while he was in LA. She was cutting his hair and they were talking and the above clip had just come out with Freddie's short-haired, mustachioed new look and the subject came up: "Say, John, what's with Freddie suddenly looking like a Gay Bob doll?" The Gay Bob doll was sort of the gay version of the Mattel Ken Doll and the Bob version was anatomically correct (something Ken, to his probable dismay, was not) and there was a version here in LA that was the spitting image of the style Freddie would take. Deacon had no idea what she was talking about, so she said, "After we're done, I'll show you"...
She took John to a place aclled The Pleasure Chest, a high end 'sex shoppe' in West Hollywood, and showed him a display of the 'rough trade' Gay Bob dolls, all looking like miniature Freddies. She said Deacon burst out into howls of laughter and bought a slew of them to take back to the UK for his bandmates and their friends...
I kinda wish I hadn't broken up with that young lady; it would have been interesting to learn what Freddie's reaction was to the dolls...
