It is one of the 2 best anti war novels I ever read. Packs a punch like a mule on steroids.

Midsummer here, I spend it with my friends and family.

Von Due knows how it all goes, I shall give it to him.

You are welcome.

But you probably won't remember it, right?:D

I do apologize Von Due, I misread what you said. I am after all just a drunk Finn.

I cannot give you the last phrase of the book as I am not fortunate enough to have both copies of it. I own two copes, both from my grandfather's, but neither of them are the 'real deal' (both are the movie version).

Sorry, if there was misunderstandment, that was on me.

PS. You still stink bad :(

22 June 1941

Operation Barbarossa begins in the early hours.

Airfields at Utti, Malmi and Vaasa are reserved for use by Luftwaffe bombers returning from their sorties over Russia.

Finnish submarines Vetehinen, Vesihiisi and Iku-Turso mine parts of Gulf of Finland and the coast of Estonia in a secret operation.

Operaatio Kilpapurjehdus (=op. Regatta) - the militarization of the Åland Islands - begins at 0430hrs.

23 ships are involved in transporting Infantry Regiment 14 and Light Battery 14 to the islands.

Soviet planes attack the ships and the Älskar Fortress, causing only minor damage.

16 men from Detachment Marttina are flown to White Karelia to destroy the locks of the Stalin White Sea-Baltic Canal.

The canal turns out to be too well guarded and the group abandon their mission. On their return trek they cut the Murmansk railroad.

They return on 11/7 with two men lost.

Ask 5 people and you get 5 different answers. :O:

Plenty of officials of various types made statements to the Germans, though these were more in a way of personal opinions. I don't think there are any official documents available that show the intentions of those in power in regards to this question.

The White (or Viena) Karelia would have been one area for sure along with East Karelia. Both of which Mannerheim mentions in his 'Sword Scabbard' order of 1918 and again in 1941:

Possible the Kola Peninsula as well.
