Ok...so, the Spitfire was supposed to be more forgiving than the 109...right?

So, why is it when I stall in a 109 it's a much easier to deal with experience than in a Spitfire.
Take the following example:

http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/1...2010232635.jpg

I am on the verge of stalling (slats open, wing vortices on) but she continues to climb quite comfortably and only when I started knocking on 8000m did she start to dip a wing.
If I had tried this in a Spitfire I would have stalled and wound up in a flat spin before you could say "any idiot could fly a Spitfire". :nope:

Gaaah...this had better be something that is EXTENSIVELY looked at in Storm of War... :stare:

Seeing as how I haven't posted much of anything lately (because of work) I'll fix that right now.

And now for my screencaps of tonight's flight :hmmm:

Huzzah, I succeeded in taking off with a MiG!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ssingflaps.png
My invincible MiG after Oberon attempted to smite it (wow IL2 loves Glitches), eventually the flaps got ripped out in a dive :haha: and I ended up in the water

Schroeder 07-17-10 11:46 AM

Those were your ailerons, not your flaps.... and the rudder.:know:
Time to bail I would say.:D

@Oberon
That must be the most shot up plane, that's still flying, that I've ever seen in Il2. :o

Geno_Mariner 07-17-10 12:01 PM

That too XD
Yeah I bailed but I think I got killed anyway...:haha:

Lord_magerius 07-28-10 10:29 AM

After months of searching, I've finally found my copy of IL2 again :D :woot:

FSX I presume?

Scottisch coast?

Was this guy the pilot?

http://content.answers.com/main/cont...an_connery.jpg

Good flying though, I look forward to doing a spot of freeflight once I get my new joystick. Not quite sure I'd manage five and a quarter hours though

Arclight 08-03-10 12:07 PM

FSX it is. Sean was the welcoming party at Edinburgh. That's as close as he's going to get to ma Baron. :yep:

It kept me occupied while I still have the energy to think. I'd rather focus on flying a plane than anything else at the moment. ;)

Did some 8-9 hour flights with 747 in the past; that is really too much.

Yeah, thinking too much is not something you want to do in the circumstances, so whatever you can do to take your mind off things the better.

I drove a little J-15 from Marks Tey to Sudbury earlier and then came unstuck when I found there was no way to reverse around the train at Sudbury :damn: But it was relaxing and my mind was focusing on the road ahead and not the gap behind.

Has your Baron got a well stocked drinks cabinet? If not then I think Sir Sean would probably not bother with it anyway :haha:
