In fact, while escorting convoy, the escort ships are always pinging with ASDIC, and you only begin to hear the "ping" when they start to detect you. This is not due to your engine noise... I think, in SH3, if you hear a ping, that means that the escort is detecting you.

This is a pretty basic binary AI...

right that...Onealex is doing good job, ofcourse warships is very dangerous at the end of the war, better sensors,radars..Sometimes they catch me when they are lonely on the sea but I trick them, dive launch decoy...When I spot cruiser with 1 or 2 escort I go to atack

In this mod, are there any hunter killer groups patrolling in the Atlantic ? With veteran/elite escort carriers and escort destroyers...

The tactic which works best (but not perfect) for me is when I hear the pings and the escorts are fairly close I just go flank at or close to periscope depth and constantly go either hard to port or hard to starboard till I get a good torpedo shot. Our uboat appears to be able to outmaneuver the escorts rather easily in this fashion. The escorts chase but most times cant get over me good enough to get their depth charges on me. With patience and focus though I can usually get a good shot and blast them.

Hi Madlou ...I was try and that but I rather love to shoot merchant ships from long distance(from side of convoy) and then when their escorts start with searching I will going greatly at 100m.150m depth

That is my tactic as well, I rarely engage escorts but in early war i'll try to sneak inside the convoy submerged at silent running which does work if you time it right and their lightly escorted, usually only works in early war. There be some Kretschmer **** goin' on there!

Happy hunting Mister M:Kaleun_Salute:

The main historical hunter/killer groups were in the Atlantic vs. coastal waters, fwiw.

A long shot - is it a particle bug? Particles are used for fog and smoke effects. A billion years ago the original game had a particle bug with Nvidia cards, which was worked around with Ctrl-P to turn particles off. Has this come back, or have you got the work around activated? Try Ctrl-P and/or messing with particle settings in the video menu.

It doesnt seem like that's it, I turned them off but the sort of "TV Static" effect still pops up from time to time, I'll try to get screenshots of it, but its there for almost a split second

Greet you kyle...Not problem to infiltrate in columns of convoy when escort is 2,3 ships, late war is 6,7 at least... In early war everything is much easier,we rule the Atlantic and British waters as well but at the end luck is on the side of Allies(they drive us away to Norwaigen and German bases)

Hi, during the pursuit of the convoy, and exchanging messages with BDU :03:, to form a wolf pack, i suddenly started receiving many messages like this

https://i.postimg.cc/dZD2RVkZ/sh3-20...0-47-37-33.jpg

As far as i know, the request for change is made with a combination of shift + m ?

ivanov.ruslan 10-19-21 03:05 AM

Concerning wolfpacks, I know the mod documentation talks about how to summon other uboats to form wolfpacks put Im somewhat confused how it works (which is not hard to do).

Does anyone here put play with wolfpacks regularly? If so, how do you like it?

I have tried this several times. I don't like this feature. Wolfpack comes only at night when visibility is poor (3-4 km). So it is very difficult to not be spotted before especially when destroyers have radars

ivanov.ruslan 10-19-21 11:53 AM

I play mainly and only with wolf packs, only in 1942, this one appeared after about 12 hours of chase.

In this case, they sank one trader, damaged several, but it is possible that there were other sunken targets, because there was only one destroyer in my area.

Usually, if the option is selected from the selector "less reports" appears faster, i had a case in within 2-3 hours.

Alex is right, the attacks take place mostly at night, but I've had a case during the day

I've a lot of experience with them in other mods. Work great, won't play without them myself; interesting to see it work let alone the historical factor.
