My screenies still come out all black. Worked long ago then never did again. May be something to do with playing GWX at or below minimum specs. Oh well, some great shots people. Keep 'em coming.

danurve 04-18-07 10:49 AM

Starting to like those electrics. Esspecially one shot take downs done right :yep:

This one flabbergasted me, stern shot with an electric. I used to belive there was no way to do this without a good old steamer.

My Introduction to GWX, I've playing for a while, used a few other mods (Rub to name one)
Went back to SH3 from playing other stuff when my main pcs cpu blew up, started a type 2 career in vanilla, starting in wilhelmshaven then decided to download and install GWX after my 1st patrol

When starting I the second patrol, with GWX, I get a message about my base being changed to kiel, Meh, I think, I'll just go sink something and then go back to kiel, so I load up and Instead of wilhelmhaven (or Kiel for that matter) i get this

http://home.wanadoo.nl/omf17235/images/eep_ehrm.jpg

:o

I'm in a IIa here, after careful calculation I find out I can get back to a friendly port on the available diesel, if I go through der Kanal and never exceed 6 kts, I'll try that some other time just for kicks, I don't know what we're gonna eat though, maybe we'll use bernard for bait and fish a bit.

So I start a new career, october 1939 in U-36 a type VII this time, no problems on startup, wilhelmshaven has the Tirpitz lying around, I'm muy impressed

Patrol is fairly uneventful, a bit frustrating becuse it turns out that all Passenger/cargos carry is rubber duckies and ping pong balls, gah!, also my skills are a bit rusty :nope:

Until at a random hydrophone check I get multiple warship contacts, a taskforce, medium speed and they're coming straight for me, I line up the shot, thinking I'll bag me a cruiser, maybe a battleship (this is in AN41 I'm not expecting anything bigger than moderately impressive say 10k tons, that's not unreasonable is it?)

I sneak a peek with the scope and I'm stunned, It's the Hood, there's nothing that looks like that mother, and she's passing me at 1500meters at 15 knots :o:o, there's also a Nelson coming up behind her but I figure I'm going for the royal Navy's Flagship. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity :arrgh!:

so I fire off my first tube magnetic at the B turret, then 2 tubes Impact nicely spread at 5 meters depth

She must have noticed something because she accelerates but the 1st fish hits exactly as planned, no critical damage it would seem, then the second fish hits

http://home.wanadoo.nl/omf17235/imag...rewoohood2.jpg

Just like it said in the book in basic training :arrgh!::rock:

I make for the bottom, only 71 meters to play with and manage to evade five very angry tribal destroyers for about an hour, but they eventually catch me

U-36 lost with all hands on her first patrol, but it was so worth it, and i got a medal too, posthumously of course

So I'd like to dedicate this one to the GWX Devs for allowing me to steal the Bismarcks thunder :lurk:

Thank you and Good night
