Do mods take up room on the C: drive ?

Hello,

I recently installed the 1.4 update into my SH4.

It surprisingly caused my C: partition, (the XP operating system) to go low on storage space.

Later, I learned that this was to be expected.

So, before I attempt making the C: partition larger, I'll ask ... do the major mods available here also put a lot of data into the OS partition?

It depends, mods usually install to where ever the game is installed, so if the game is installed in the os partition, then the mod will go there as well. However, your issue could be temp files from installers unpacking to the os drive (you may want to clean out your temp files).

If you don't know where the folder is this is where in XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\your profile\Local Settings\Temp
delete all, some you may not be able to delete just ignore those.:yep:

Hi back to you, NeonSamurai and Reece ...

I was truly shocked when installing the 1.4 patch into D: all these files were going onto C: And a lack of space warning came up.

As Reece mentioned about "Documents and Settings\your profile\Local Settings\Temp", it did ask me if I wanted to clear temp files out, and it did. I lately went to that folder and didn't see much there. but I did see missions and other saves from Silent Hunter there.

I must back that up if I format a new C partition! I am also thinking about a possibility of trying a program called "Easeus Partition Manger" to make D smaller, and give more unallocated space to C:

I have never done that kind of thing. Seems like a patchwork thing to do??

Now, as Samurai said, I believe that there was some unpacking going on. Would you believe my C: partition is only 5 gigs? But it is surely time to make it bigger or maybe repartition the whole hard drive !!

Thanks fellows, for your opinions! Bob P.
