Weather bug

The envsimact 10 v (2016)stiebler made makes the wind change constantly
On a clean 1.4b version.+ Some environment change

So if you are shipping 30 min and no weather(wind) changes you run bug.

Any post regarding this in this forum?
Help welcome.

I was about to start a similar thread. I think overall the weather is too good. I started a test campaign in January 1943 in Norway. I''ve been sailing for 3 days and I feel like I'm on a pleasure cruise on a lake, while I actually am in the arctic ocean. What gives? I'm using LSH3. I have "seasonal" ticked for wave height in SH3 commander.

I have similar experiences so I just started using the stock envsim.act file.
Much better.
I know some had weeks long storms/fog/15m/s winds with it, but longest I've had is four days. Been using it awhile, really like it's variety of weather.
Stiebler's file is great work, but it makes the weather to good.

Try the stock file if you haven't already.

Yeah, I've been using all the rest of Hsie's patches for awhile now. Haven't tried his weather patch yet though; going to give it a try though.

Hi sailor

You can see in my latest post how it has to be when the simact properly works.

If you want to wait on weatherchange like a year go on.
For me is no way to play with bug.

One do not need higher waves an all the other stuff.

If it works right, in real time on bridge(f4) you can see waves changing frequently. And it looks great every bit to see it change

Yeah I know a lot of people have had problems with the stock file. But strangely hasn't happened to me; four days max which for the North Atlantic is easily believable.
Even a little longer is. But no doubt the weather in the game (among other things) is a mess even after patching. I.e, the fog affect/graphic is terrible.
Modders did the best that can be done though I think.

Weather

So when it says the four days wind 4 speed 0 all the time.it a bug

But do how you please.....

YellowFin 09-21-19 06:44 AM

Umm... I sail from time to time on the ocean and I can tell you the wind does not necessarily have to change several times a day. In certain areas you can have the same wind direction for days or even weeks: Passat / monsun zones. Even further north I'm pretty sure you can have a week of the same wind direction, think constant westerly strong winds in the north Atlantic. Maybe a subsimmer from the coast can chime in.

A wind speed of 0 for long periods seems unreasonable except for the so called horse latitudes between 25° and 35°.

bacchusxxx22 09-21-19 07:46 AM

On a scale from 0 to 360

On a scala from 0 to 360 how realistic is it to not change even one degree, please....

YellowFin 09-21-19 09:24 AM

Of course it changes by a few degrees constantly. As you're in a submarine and not in a sail boat it doesn't matter so much however. Also, consider that somehow these values have to be generated by the computer. Expecting a complex and realistic weather simulation inside a retail market submarine game from 2005 is a bit too much. Also, IRL the 1 WO or whoever took the weather observation wouldn't give you a wind direction in degrees every minute. Please.

bacchusxxx22 09-21-19 09:42 AM

My point is that stiebler simact works.
For some reason, on a super mod it's buged....

It is simulating how good it can for a 2005 game.
But not on the super mod.
Don't no what you try to explain to me?

I've never tried his file on 1.4b. That's interesting; it works differently on that vs a super mod version of the game ?

How does the weather act in the two examples ? If it's more realistic in 1.4b with his file, I definitely want to check that out.

bacchusxxx22 09-22-19 11:26 AM

The simact file stieber made, you can download it here on subsim.

I have tested 4 different.

The one here on subsim has a date 2016.
That is the only one working.
...on clean 1.4b

Yeah, I've had that file for a long time now. It's in his patch files. Have to try it on 1.4b and see how it's different there.

Thanks for the info.
