so let's say....

That I have a 3d model of a Maus...

Who would want to try putting it into Steel fury for a few giggles?

I know it wouldn't be in historical context but anyone who is up for the challenge let me know, I can supply as much technical data as one would need to get it working accurately in Steel Fury.

Being a 3d modeler I can break it apart or put it together in any which-way one would like, just let me know how and I'll do what I can, I'd love to try a beast like this in SF

There is this...

I was looking at that, and it almost looks like too much, haha.

I wonder what Mikhayl is up to :hmmm:

It's really not that complicated once you get familiar with it. I picked up my old tuto + an existing mod with new playable stuff for template, and I've managed to add 2 new playables between monday and now.
It can be surprisingly quick if you have a finished textured model, even taking into account the time needed to arrange the model for SF.
But, that's the problem, I don't want to waste my time creating an umteenth Panzer XX model when there's already a ****load of good existing models in various games. So I ripped some models out of other games or mods, which means personal use only.

Hetzer from Theatre of War (two evenings total):

Panther G from Forgotten Hope 2 (1 afternoon + evening):

wow, that's cool
too bad they are personal use only.

and I would love to go through the short and uncomplicated process of making the thing workable....

The maus had a LOT of wheels man. I'll die before I get them all workable.....

But after some digging I dug up the Maus as a free model. so it's able to be created and distributed....freely :haha:

Mikhayl,

Those tanks look impressive !!! Wow !!!

Have you considered asking the modders of Fogotten Hope 2 to let you use their models in a Steel Fury mod? Perhaps they will have no problems with that if you give proper credit to their work in your mod. I can't believe that such excellent model can not be enjoyed by everybody in Steel Fury...

And let me ask other thing: have you considered finishing your vehicle import tutorial for Steel Fury? It seems that the third part is missing in the Graviteam forums...

Thanks for your help !!!

yes, the Tank modells look realy good in Steel Fury :yeah:

Mikhayl 11-28-09 08:27 AM

Hi Txema, I did ask but they said no. I agree with you that it's a shame.
Anyway I haven't made any new mission so they aren't a lot of fun for the moment. Maybe later if I manage to create a new map, I'll see if it's worth taking some flak :)

For the tutorial, I never got around that last part, it takes too long to write. But my old playable panzer mod has vehicle config files with translated comments and it's a good template to see what files are needed for a new vehicle, and what to edit.
Once you have the model ready as per the tuto, the scripting comes very easily. A vehicle file has approx ~300 lines, including a good 30/50 lines of comments. Compared to that, T34 vs Tiger has approx 1500 lines for each vehicle, it's a nightmare :)
edit, Sledge, rigging the wheels takes barely 30 seconds. In 3dsmax, separate each wheel with numbers as in the tuto/existing files. Then select a wheel -> hierarchy tab -> affect pivot only -> center to object -> align to world, and it's done. Repeat for all the wheels and that's it. In the config file there's just one line per wheel, basically there's just a couple digits to change, the rest is copy-pasting.

Mikhayl,

Thank you very much for your answer.

Is it possible to download your old panzer mod? Where??

Really looking forward to your possible future missions !!!:yeah:

You can find it here: http://tanksim.org.ru/wfdownloads-si...-15-lid-60.htm

The mod is obsolete though, Steel Panzer 1.4 includes all the tanks with better configs. The mod is only useful to see the minimum amount of files needed to add a new vehicle with a "cloned" test mission, and to have config files commented in English (except a few lines here and there).
