Your objective is to locate and destroy 3 to 4 enemy submarines attempting to cross the Bear Gap in the Bear Trap area.

Option to play as both sides. It's two missions in one. The side selection is done by selecting the aircraft type, the mission reconfigures itself based on this.

If at least one of the enemy submarines (depending on the chosen side - direction west or east) crosses the Bear Gap (marked vertical lines), or the enemy submarines manage to destroy more than 50% (2 submarines) of the friendly submarines, the mission has failed and you have lost. You will be informed of all this if it happens, as well as of the victory - if you destroy all enemy subs or if friendly subs help you.

NATO NAVY - Atlantique 2
NORTHERN FLEET - Tu-134M3

Ability to change the type of anti-submarine aircraft at will.

Each side tries to cross the Bear Gap with 3 to 4 subs. Realistically there are 8 per side and from them 3 to 4 subs (class) are randomly selected for the mission at each launch.

For NATO NAVY these are:
SSN 688 - Los Angeles FLT 1
SSN 776 - Virginia
SSN 107 - Trafalgar
SSN 777 - Astute
SSN 607 - Suffrene
SS 802 - Walrus
SSK 587 - Gotland
SSBN 28 - Vanguard

For the Northern Fleet these are:
SSN 564 - Yasen-I
SSGN 186 - Oscar II
SSGN 266 - Oscar II
SSN 336 - Siearra II
SSK 586 - Lada
SSN 414 - Victor III
SSBN 208 - Typhoon 941U
SSBN 114 - Delta IV

Although the mission may seem simple - appearances are deceiving, the area of Ber Trap is 200200 km2 (77300 mi2), which makes locating enemy submarines much more difficult if you are playing on maximum reality with truth off.

The key is that possible submarine locations and routes (as well as submarine types) are generated at most randomly along with 3 or 4 friendly subs (so sometimes you can even witness underwater battles between these groups through your sonobuoys), I've added a few underwater false targets and some fauna. Which guarantees a high level of mission uniqueness every time you run it, and whoever enjoys this type of aerial anti-submarine operations over long distances and large areas of the sea will hopefully never get tired of it.

The time of year plays an important role here, I chose May, when the southern areas are already almost free of ice bushes, but the further north the ice bushes increase and it complicates the laying of sonobuoys and the localization of enemy submarines in such a huge water area.

Good hunting!

- In the README text file you will also find czech and russian descriptions.

Update version:

v1.01:

Added a similar mission OPERATION BEAR TRAP DEEP (file bear_trap_deep.mu) with a slightly shifted to west and significantly enlarged water area (300000 km2 / 116000 mi2) bear trap, most of the bottom relief is now deep water.

The mission is similar to the original Bear Trap with the same rules, the number of false underwater contacts has been slightly increased.

Changes in submarine composition.

For NATO NAVY these are:

SSN 21 - Seawolf
SSN 776 - Virginia
SSN 107 - Trafalgar
SSN 777 - Astute
SSN 607 - Suffren
SSBN 616 - Le Triomphant
SSK 588 - Type 212
SSBN 28 - Vanguard

For the Northern Fleet these are:

SSN 564 - Yasen-I
SSGN 186 - Oscar II
SSAN 329 - Oscar II MOD SSAN
SSN 336 - Siearra II
SS 177 - Kilo
SSN 414 - Victor III
SSBN 20 - Typhoon 941U
SSBN 535 - Borei

A few previews after generating a few missions and proof of the variety of random routes of friendly and enemy submarines (and other objects) - it's not easy to program it to work. :)
