On pro settings I guess it will take some practice before you can make a kill.

At least this time it wasn't Bill laughing at you (Neal) as he slinks away from the burning convoy.

Demo Download?

Are any of you able to get to the demo download? I am unable to find it on the Steam page.

EDIT: From what I understand they are "hoping" to release demo tomorrow (July 9th)

Demo / Playtest has begun!

From Artur@ Iron Wolf via Facebook

 Dear destroyer fans,
Following the overwhelmingly positive response to Destroyer gameplay reveal, we have decided to release our demo through Steam Playtest, so that we can start gathering external feedback.
If you are interested in taking part in the test, please visit the Destroyer steam page:
 https://store.steampowered.com/.../D..._The_UBoat.../
to download the demo. There is a limited number of downloads available, so please make sure to download as soon as possible.

As far as feedback is concerned, feel free to discuss anything demo-related on Steam or on our Discord (https://discord.gg/mQdfzbJRxk).

If you wish to report bugs, corrections, or suggestions, please write to destroyer@ironwolfstudio.com and we will do our best to address each reported issue.

Important! Demo FAQ

If you would like to stream or share the videos from the game, please note that the demo is a work in progress and that the scope of the final game will be much broader: bigger convoy formations, multiple U-boats attacking in wolfpacks, three additional AI escorts under the player’s command, and much more. Also, please bear in mind that:

Certain features and sound effects have not yet been polished to their fullest, e.g. the K-gun (depth charge launcher) sound is still being worked on and will be completely replaced.

We are in the process of toning down the AI’s efficiency and aggression level. It was near-perfect at some point, but later game development introduced several challenging elements that significantly lowered its ability to hurt the convoy. In the latest versions, we have vastly improved the U-boat’s efficiency again and it might be too much on the aggressive side at this point. All feedback on this will be much appreciated.

Many spoken reports and orders are still missing and will be introduced shortly. The lookouts will be able to spot torpedo wake, the sonarman will be able to hear torpedoes being fired, etc. We have plenty more material in that regard that we haven’t been able to implement yet.

We hope that you will enjoy the demo and that your feedback will help us tailor the game to your preferences.

Downloading the demo as we speak.
It is going to be an exciting weekend :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:

I just downloaded it and played really quick and it looks promising. Keep in mind the sonar diagram is NOT relative to your ship but it’s actually on true north. So if you have the submarine off of your nose it’s not necessarily straight up on the sonar diagram. It’s a little confusing.

So far I like it but it seems like the submarines are super aggressive. In real life they would be trying to hide from the destroyer but in the simulation so far they press the attack on the convoy while you are actively pursuing them. Maybe this can be an adjustable realism setting?

Congratulations on your victory Lanzfield!

Over on the Discord channel the devs just posted that relative bearings are indeed are going to be in the final design ...

"it is already in the design The sonar station will allow you to choose between True and relative. We simply didn't make it in time And Yes, we also have voice messages for relative already recorded"

Lanzfeld 07-09-21 03:59 PM

Thank you! I did indeed sink the submarine after two passes. It may have been luck because I just eyeballed it. Yes it needs a few tweaks but I am having a lot of fun.

I like that. In my first few runs I used the sonar station incorrectly, assuming I was using relative bearings. Like the option to switch.

I installed the demo and messed around a little before I had to go to work. I am now home and I am about to take a deeper dive into it [pun intended].

So far: I really like it! However, I did have a couple of problems - but those might well be user error. I could not seem to draw a line through the target's positions on the DRT, no matter what mouse button I held. And I could not pan around the DRT when zoomed in. But this might be an issue with my scroll wheel button, IDK. I will report back ASAP.

Thank you for making this available!!!

Platapus 07-10-21 05:43 AM

Looks like it is well worth checking out

I hope the final game comes with a well written manual as this looks a bit complicated

Lanzfeld 07-10-21 09:17 AM

Andrev how did you post screenshot?
