OGG -> MP3: folder trouble

I need a free converter for OGG to MP3. Not difficult, Google lists them by the dozens. What is difficult is to find a converter that allows batches of folders (two layers: folders [artists] with folders inside [albums] ) being listed and then converted in one session.

Recommendations?

OGG is nice and well, but on an MP3 player it sucks almost twice as much power from the battery, effectively halving (if not more) the endurance supply of one accu load. It's because OGG , I read, means more work for the CPU.

Not even the smallest gadgets nowadays escapes from being turned into a complicated science. I want back my walkman and cassettes. :arrgh!: I wonder if the claimed gain in luxury and comfort really is worth the multiplied investements in time and learning you need in order how to operate new things.

You could try Switch.

I've been using it to convert exported songs from *.wav to *.mp3. :)

Don't know if it does exactly what you need though, but you could try it.

Thanks, but I know and have Switch. It does not recognise folders and their content, only marked files. That is fine if all files (7 GB !) are in just one folder, but if you have the tracks in 40 folders (artists), all of them with more subfolders (albums), then manually marking and starting it subfolder for subfolder is a pain.

Hmm, yes that would take a lot of time to convert that much manually. :DL

Switch is the only one I've used, sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

I've been using www.goldwave.com for a very long time. They have a time limit for the free version, but all it does is start asking if you want to buy it, which is easy to ignore. Every now and then I dump it and re-install just to make that go away, but I've never had any real problem with it.

I made the mistake of ripping all my CDs to my hard drive in .wav format. When I realize what I had done, Goldwave made it very simple to change them all to MP3. Batch converter works perfectly.

Perfect solution, Steve, exactly what I needed. Thanks!
