Project 627

Evening all

Recently was tasked with writing an article on the project 627 November class submarines, I had already done one on the project 611 Zulu class so this one is fresh off the press.

Would like some feedback from you guys if possible to see where I can go with it.

Really great article, i would like to see more articles on other submarines if you have the time as i found all the detail very interesting and no rambling off topic you kept to the facts and produced alot of great factual data I wasn't aware of.

Very interesting Blair, I enjoyed that.

I was wondering if you've considered looking at any of the RN boats either past or present, or are their histories not as 'colourful' ?

I have a good amount of knowlege on the western boats ut here is the oddity with it.

The Russian sources are more open and publicly available than western sources are.
if for example i was to write about hms ocelot for example her missions and activities remain classified until 2047 so any data is not available yet in russia all this is publicly available.

While im not against writing about western boats, chinese or weapons surface ships or general naval stuff my forte is the Russian / Soviet stuff.

but watch this space because i may in the near future surprise you

Rgr that.

I remember seeing two cold war era boats at the old Navy base in Key West in the nineties. As I recall one had three launch tubes on each side of the weather deck, maybe an Echo? The other I'm fairly certain was a Foxtrot which when I last looked is a museum boat in San Deigo, CA.

Unfortunately I never got a chance to board either of them

What you were looking at is likely K77 which was a project 651 Juliete class, she played the role in the film K19 widow maker with harrison ford and liam neeson.

The other would be the foxtrot in san diego those were the only known soviet boats in the USA.

K-77, that's the one.
