It's not that I have a lot of problems with carrier landings (Less than with normal landings, in fact), it's just that those CVEs are really made for planes like the FM Wildcat and not the bigger Hellcats and Corsairs (Or maybe I just had bad luck that time)

@Schroeder
It's true that you have a nice piece of art there, but I, the artist formerly known as Raptor1, shall prove that I am the greatest artist...soon...

Fincuan 07-30-08 08:23 AM

Is that an Essex class CVE in the drawing? :lol:

Here's one shot from yesterday. The others are gone. There was a small... uhmmm... shall we say "landing accident"?

Lol, Keni.

Have you ever used a Me-163? I've been able to hit 44k but never above 50k (because I magically stall out and go down in a violent spin that usually results in my jet breaking apart).

Here's a shot of a custom Fokker D.VII from Full Canvas Jacket:

And finally, here's a cut-out shot of the Fokker DR.I that I flew in Full Canvas Jacket's multiplayer mode:

That's an interesting way to land, but why switch off the engine? You'd get a much larger margin of error with it running. I usually do either a curved approach(as in Schröder's drawing, but only straightening out at the final moment), or a steep approch with a shallow final. Either way bringing it down with the hook down, full flaps and just above stall speed works every time.

You can also do it like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIFRQ3FNCgA

I've found that switching it off can help improve lining it up with the deck for a safe landing (keeps you from having to deal with ANY torque).

Schroeder 07-31-08 08:56 AM

Yeah, but if you fail on the approach you have no way to go around.:hmm:

I usually land with zero throttle (on a carrier) there you don't have to deal with much torque and are on the safe side if you should fail to go land properly.
