The funny Red Triangle thread - RESTORED! (thanks Oleg)

Does anyone know how to find the red triangle thread, the one with the Das Boot screens and humorous captions? Was it in the SH3 or SH4 forum...here or the archives? My Search Powers are failing me :/\\!!

Found it, restored: Little Red Triangle...... You Have GOT To Be Kidding Me....

.

Holy hot damn, I found it!

But Oleg has removed his pictures :( Maybe it's in the Wayback Machine... or Oleg can dig them up... :()1:

Neal,

I believe the file is Umark.tga in \date\misc\. Just get a copy of the one used for GWX and you will be totally disoriented as you desire.

And what you doing peeking in the external view anyway? :)

Sailor Steve 01-27-09 02:14 PM

Great! Now all you need to find is the Drebbel Trial Thread(s). Jim's been waiting since October to read them.

@Neal....I noticed from your archived post your joining date was the 25th Jan....my wifes birthday.

If this is the case I'll have to have an extra beer on said day to celebrate both

Eh? You got it wrong, I was looking for Oleg's Red Triangle pics... :/\\chop

He e-mailed me, he says he no longer has them :( I think that's worth a week in the Brig. :/\\!!

Anyone out there? Any really nutty guy who may have saved these on his hard drive? It's worth a Subsim cap to me.

RESTORED!

:/\\k:Scroll halfway down the page for the first three and the next page for the next two.

I begged Oleg to check again and that guy is a backup maniac, he found them on an archive CD. All hail Croatia!

Good that they were found :D that thread was responsable for some of the best laughs I have ever had; would have been a pity to see it get lost.

Looking back at it I start to feel old....ahhhh those are memories of other times, wow

...and if you had played SH2 and discussed to death abouthow to get rid of it, if you had lived the atmosphere at subsim.com back then when SH3 was in development and we all were so sick and frustrated about SH2, you would laugh even more when seeing what Oleg, in a masterpiece of humour sense, created. Man I still start laughing just by thinking of it....here I go again: :rotfl:

GoldenRivet 01-28-09 03:36 PM

Lord knows i have done plenty of tours of duty with SH2!

i only wish i had known about subsim back then.

I was getting bored one night with my SH3 experience and googled "Mods for Silent Hunter 3"

bam... there was subsim first on the list and i havnt looked back!

IanC 01-28-09 04:37 PM

How can any self-respecting subsimmer not know about the Red Triangle! :nope:
I looooved it with SHII :/\\k:

Yeah, that seems to be how we separate the newcomers from the oldtimers around here now. :|\\

The Red Triangle was even mentioned in the 2007 Sub Almanac. Or was it the 2008?
