A nice little flight from Coltishall to some naval airfield in Holland (I think), where I discovered the runway was not B-17 length and overrun it...but no damage caused, except for a bit to the cowl flaps which was fixed easily enough in the hangar. Engines 3 and 4 are acting up a little though, 3 in particular seems to run hot...have to keep an eye on them.

FSX, alas the Accu-sim B-17 is not compatible with FS9.

When Japan was hit by the Tsunami, one of the places that was heavily damaged was the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force's Matsushima Air Base in Miyagi Prefecture, which was only about 80 miles from the epicentre of the quake. The tsunami damaged or destroyed several of the base's Kawasaki F-4s and Mitsubishi F-2s (basically a Japanese made F-16). It also was the home of a collection of vintage planes including an F-86, F-104 and Texan among others. A small piece of good news is the JSDF Blue Impulse display team was not there at the time so their planes were spared. I just thought I would mention it here because it is not important enough for the "real" discussion thread in comparison to everything else going on in Japan right now.

Just started a career in the RFC in August 1917. I was assigned wingman for a 2 ship CAP over a bridge that was likely to be attacked by German aircraft.

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d5...2205_49_19.jpg

Idiot Captain Allenby pranged his aircraft literally six seconds into the mission (body count: one). Decided to save the mourning for later and proceeded with the mission.

Sure enough, three German two seaters dropped a load dead center on the bridge (time compression flaw!), with disastrous consequences for the civilians and livestock nearby.

I picked on Tail End Charlie, shooting him full of holes. No easy task when you're flying a one gun Sopwith. His friends bravely left him to his fate; eventually I wounded his gunner & he suffered a structural failure before crashing behind our lines. Thanks to my Pup's anemic horsepower, the other two huns got off scot free, apart from having to see their buddy killed. Wish I had an SE5a.

Returned to the airfield to find out that the Captain had not survived his accident, and that the bridge was in ruins. Another day, another dollar (or is it shilling?)

Anyway, final death toll:

1 Sopwith Scout (crashed)
1 RFC Pilot, Capt. Allenby (killed)
1 Civilian Worker (killed)
1 Civilian Worker (injured)
2 Sheep (killed)
1 Bridge (destroyed)
1 Aviatik Bomber (shot down)
1 German Pilot (killed)
1 German Gunner (killed)

And yes, the game does in fact keep track of animal deaths in the debriefing. Is that level of detail impressive, or is it just creepy...?

What game is that?
