Using hand-torches for visual signaling?

Anyone tried using the hand-torches for visual signaling between U-Boats in an MP at night while surfaced?

Would also be good if we could turn on the nav lights on the boat (they're present in the visual model). I know it would be strange mid-combat to switch them on, but when we get ports, would be good to have them so we can operate realistically while in port as well.

Did the U-Boats in the 1940s have the ability to signal through the periscope as well?

I did once when there were multiple boats attacking the convoy with deck gun. And the other began firing shell towards us. They seemed to have noticed as they stopped. Never heard if they did actually though.
