External View in TMO 2.5

I just installed TMO last night, and I have found that I can't use the external view in campaign mode. I have gone into the Options menu and unselected the "no external view" choice, applied changes, then restarted the campaign, but everything resets and I have no external view. I have tried using the F12 button, as was suggested in another thread. Nothing. The free camera button also does nothing. I saw in another thread something about an options screen in career mode, but the one I have doesn't include the external view choice.

Is this something I can fix in the cfg file, or am I missing something easier?

There is a separate options menu inside the campaign, you have to change the option there too.

You can do this when you are on the screen of the captains office, one of the books on the left hand side shelf is a shortcut to the campaign options menu.

that should do it.:Kaleun_Salute:

Toward the end of the TMO_Manual.pdf he explains how to enable external view, get the silhouettes and tails back on the Nav map etc. This pdf is hidden in the Documentation folder which is also where the Data folder is, if I remember correctly. (I don't have TMO installed)

Thanks guys! I found the elusive Options menu in the campaign and fixed the problem there. All is now good!

One of the things I did long ago was change the defaults to my own personal preference. That's in the \Data\Cfg\GameplaySettings.cfg file, which can be edited with notepad. Every time I start a new career I chose the "Hard" setting;

[Hard]
LimitedBatteries=true
LimitedCompressedAir=true
LimitedO2=true
LimitedFuel=true
RealisticRepairTime=true
ManualTargetingSystem=true
NoMapUpdate=false
RealisticSensors=true
DudTorpedoes=true
RealisticReload=true
NoEventCamera=true
NoExternalView=false
NoStabilizeView=false
MPShowPlayerNames=true
MPShowTorpedoes=true

But I edited that in the GameplaySettings.cfg file;

[Hard]
LimitedBatteries=true
LimitedCompressedAir=true
LimitedO2=true
LimitedFuel=true
RealisticRepairTime=true
ManualTargetingSystem=false
NoMapUpdate=false
RealisticSensors=true
DudTorpedoes=false
RealisticReload=true
NoEventCamera=true
NoExternalView=false
NoStabilizeView=false
MPShowPlayerNames=true
MPShowTorpedoes=true

So I don't have to remember to change those in gameplay options before leaving the office.
Edit then forgedit. :rock:

Is there a way to get back the external views using the comma and period keys? The view that cycled between your sub and all nearby ships? I got the F12 key to work in the gameplaysettings.cfg file but I really miss haveing my sub "locked" on view when underwater..

Yes.

Edit:
Found it:

How do i get the next/ previous camera back?

The easiest way is to open the /data/cfg/commands.cfg in TMO. Search for " [Cmd50] " Your looking for these two blocks:

[Cmd50]
Name=Camera_on_next_unit
Ctxt=1
;Key0=0xBE,,">"
Page=0x34000000,3714

[Cmd51]
Name=Camera_on_prev_unit
Ctxt=1
;Key0=0xBC,,"<"
Page=0x34000000,3714

Simply remove the semicolon placed in front of the key assignment, and you have the next/previous cameras back. Note: this will restore hotkeys. It will not restore the buttons on the ordersbar.

Thanks Mate !!! you are my best new friend !! LOL

I know TMO is all about the realism, but with all of the time spent on the stunning Ship and Sub detail.. it's tough to stay couped up inside all the time. :)
