Epic luck

So after getting my game to finally work, I started a new career/patrol.
All was uneventful at the start (01/1940), had to work my way around the British Isles from Wilhelmshaven.

Eventually stumbled upon a few targets and a convoy near the entrance of the Strait of Gibraltar. Then I headed back north as I was running a bit low on torpedoes and fuel. On my way back I encountered another convoy and decided to attack.

After scouting, I saw there were 3 juicy targets in the starboard rear quarter with just one escort. I cut across the front of the convoy and lay in wait between the outer 2 rows on the starboard side but was detected :hmmm: .

I targeted a large freighter with the stern tubes and went for the auxiliary cruiser with the front ones. The freighter was sunk with one well aimed torpedo and the cruiser suffered quite some damage but was still afloat.

Then I decided to cut across the path of the cruiser and take aim with the rear tubes again. However, the escort was prowling around in the vicinity and I had to dive deeper to avoid gunfire. Later I went back to periscope depth and fired one more rear torpedo at the cruiser which was now on a far from ideal angle.

The torpedo hit the rear of the cruiser in the screws/rudder, bounced off and I thought damn.. :wah: :wah: . But to my surprise the torpedo found a second life. It went back on its bearing, heading straight for the second big freighter I couldn't target earlier due to being detected. And by pure luck it hit the freighter, sank it (again just one hit) and the cruiser succumbed to the damage from earlier.

So all in all, 3 ships sunk with 4/5 torpedoes on manual targeting. Helped along of course with an incredible bit of luck.
