I like to think it's just a little bit me, and then a little bit you. :O:

Sailor Steve 12-31-10 11:13 PM

You've convinced me. I'm a believer.

frau kaleun 01-01-11 12:01 AM

If you really believed, you'd turn on your heart light.

Sailor Steve 01-01-11 11:07 AM

Why bother? You don't bring me flowers anymore anyway.

How to attack a convoy in GWX

Yes...how?

Those escorts seem to have ears and eyes a way too smart

I waited ahead of a convoy 90m deep...then I started to go at peri depth at 4knts...escorts came in, depth charged and sank my sub

You were way too deep, 20M at the most, and way too fast, no more than 2kt. At 4kt they can hear you from a long ways away. Position yourself ahead of the convoy to one side of the lead escort and wait for it to pass by you. Once it has passed you, and gotten more than 1000M away, you can then start moving at no more than 2kts towards your attack position, and come up to periscope depth.

Set your speed at @ 1 Knot

I'm still in my first patrol of only my second career, but I already want to start over with GWX :) There's one thing I'd like to know, though; the manual says that ships appear as grey icons on the map, so you have to find out if the ship is friendly, neutral or enemy. But how does this work?

Does the icon turn blue/green/red automatically when in certain range? Or will the icon stay grey, and I have to check the flag myself? But isn't that impossible, unless you're really, really close??

frau kaleun 01-09-11 09:19 PM

If you install the GWX supermod over your game, you will no longer see colored icons on the map at all, no matter how close to a ship you get. The icons on the map will all be (and stay) the same color no matter where a ship is from. You'll need to ID every ship yourself by getting close enough to see its flags/markings/etc. from the bridge or the periscope.

But you can get the color-coding back after installing GWX by downloading and enabling the Contact Color mod. You can find it here at Subsim:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/down...?do=file&id=33

or at Jimbuna's Filefront page, there's a link to that in his sig. :DL

And now the US of A is at war with you, personally, until 1939/11/22.

Bad Kaleun! BdU spank!

I would suggest staying away from all US ships, planes, bases, and coastlines for the next 24 hours. For that length of time after the sinking, Uncle Sam considers you his sworn enemy. Enjoy your private one-day war with the US Armed Forces! :O:

Other than that, I dunno, have you edited the renown penalty for sinking neutrals? If not, IIRC you'll lose the same amount you would've gained had the ship been from an enemy nation (at least in GWX).
