Destroyer Hovercraft?

Well, I finally had a chance to get back to spending some time with OM (with all updates.) It's late July, '41 in CC86 just south of Spain. Convoy spotted, attack the escorts. The lead destroyer is a sitting duck, 6 shots later it's like brand new. After running a save made from when I received orders to attack, I discovered the destroyer (either e&f or g&h) was running above the water!! The water line, hull bottom, props were all visible! I seemed to recall a post some time ago about this, but can't find it now. I deleted the save, but my prior save is so far back I'm unable to find this convoy again, hence the uncertainty about the destroyer class. Are airborne torps available?:hmmm:

Can you hear him with the hydro?

He's on the hydro, he shows up on the plot, he's even got a rooster tail where the prop just hits the water. What he hasn't got is a waterline to make holes in! (The red bottom paint sure looks brand new!)

What's your install? I've done 16 patrols in my current OM career and have not encountered this, well at least that I know of. Most looks at destroyers are from 6 inches above the surface from range and with anything other than a calm sea state I may not even notice. Just curious what install order you are using.

Having had a problem with a previous install (unable to save a career) I did a new install after deleting all traces of the old game. It is an up to date OM installed over an up to date sh4/UBM. For some reason I recall a post (haven't been able to find it yet, don't remember which forum) where the poster had a similar experience, but I don't remember which class of ship it was above the water. Being unable to re-create it at this point, I'm not overly concerned. It was fun watching the destroyer "fly" right by me when I gave up trying to sink it and just watched to see what happened!
