Hi, I'm new

First of all, I say hello to all the comunity.

Recently I bought Silent Hunter IV after having a PC that supports (and in this case excedes ) minimun requierements. I decided for silent IV due to last silent was, as far as I know, impossible to play without internet cnx, even if cnx goes down, you loose all what you did.
years ago, I played another version of SH, and comparing I miss (or at least I'm unable to find) a reasonable way to use the rudder, cause compass is too unacurate, and the only option is all rudder to a side, instead of several degrees .
am I wrong?

Ahoy and welcome aboard. :salute:

I haven't played SH4 so I can't address your question... many others no doubt can, but you might have more luck asking about it in the SH4 forums where discussions among those who play it are ongoing.

Good luck and happy hunting!

If I'm understanding you correctly:

You need a constant internet connection to play SH5 but not For SH3 or SH4.

There is a rudder mod for SH3 that allows you to use the keyboard instead of the mouse:

WELCOME ABOARD! :sunny:

In the original Silent Hunter pushing the '[' or ']' keys would give you five degrees rudder, and pushing them again would give ten degrees, all the way out to full rudder. Pushing Ctrl+[ or Ctrl+] would give full rudder.

SH3 and SH4 won't do that, but you can use the mouse to click on the little button by the compass. Then you can click on the number of degrees you want, from 1 all the way to 35.

Or, as Jim said, use that mod. With it if you hold down the rudder key it turns and keeps turning until you let go. Of course it's still full rudder, nothing less.

I usually point the periscope, UZO or binoculars in the direction I want to go and hit the '=' key.
