GWX trouble AGAIN

so basically. I start the game, I want to load the world, at around 75-80% of the loading it stops and says that Silent hunter 3 is not responding and it closes itself. Specs:
16 gigs of KINGSTON RAM DDR4
Ryzen 1500x
Rog Strix GTX1060 O6G

no memory issues or other things.fix from last time didnt work

no Idea whats wrong. I believe it only happens if I start in 1940 or later but if I try it in 1939 it (usually) works fine. please help. I do not want to start in 1939 because of the annoyingly long pre war time

Do you have the LAA (Large Address Aware) set on your SH3.exe file? I can't run a lot of the SH3 mods without setting the SH3.exe with that. Also, "Run as administrator" on the Properties page for the SH3.exe file...

I have to keep it in my steam folder to be able to actually run it which is in Program Files(x86)

Cool. Now, if you have more issues, having SH3 Steam in the "Program Files (x86)" directory - er, folder, can cause troubles with mod activations also, since Windows will "protect" your "Program Files (x86)" folder from "unauthorized" editing, which is what JSGME does, since it does not ask Windows for permission to edit the files. SH3 and JSGME are both from the days of Windows XP, before MS decided to frustrate game users who like to mod... Over in the FotRSU thread, I made this post for a fellow with Steam:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...91#post2496891

which has this picture in it of my Steam app on my computer, NOT on the web. You still have to log-in, but you change the install folder like this.

That said, if it works, don't break it by trying to "fix" it... ~BUT~ if you notice further issues, it could well be the install folder that you are currently using.

Edit: The Steam Support Site method has the manual way also...

For me I learned that it was the open hatch mod causing my game to crash, disabled that and it works fine now. Thought it was 16km atmosphere at first.

There is an easy way to resolve the issues that Steam version encounters:

SFSF Module (Steam Fix & Starforce removal): http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=227473

Link to latest version is in very last post in the above thread, still waiting for it to be released from the "file download queue" before it will show up in the downloads section.

Good hunting!

Edited to add: I almost forgot. If you are using Windows 10, I have found running SH3.exe in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode helps a lot. It has eliminated ctd's when trying to load saved games.

Hope this helps.
