Recognition Manual Question/Problem
I don't find all the British ships in the Manual. At least not the Civilian Cargo Ships.
Is there some reason for a SHIII / 1.04b / GW game to NOT show them??? I couldn't even THROW a gob of diesel rag at the ship...without ID, range, etc... in High Realism. |
Ummm what ship ?
IIRC all cargo ships show in the manual automatically unless there isnt a .sil for the ship in question |
In mine I never see any civilian ships, only military ships. Any nation.
(when using 1.4b and gw1.1a) |
Yeaaaa... Coda. I got so close I could spit on their deck... I ***KNOW*** that was a Brit flag. I seem to recall from the Naval Academy that this was a 'coastal freighter'. I know for sure it wasn't a 'C2'... and I'd guess there are a lot of those around?
I wonder if there is a part of The Manual that you can't see without somehow dragging it somewhere? How the heck can you set up for a shot if you can't I.D. and get distance, draft, etc ?? |

GOT IT!!! Thanks to that Ravishing Beauty, 'Avon Lady' ... if indeed Avon Lady *IS* a lady ...
Check it out... in the Rec Manual you will sooner or later find "HANDELSSCHIFFE".... which apparently is Deutch for 'merchant ships'. I would never have found that as I am only fluent in three (3) languages : English, Filthy and Obscene... Thank you, 'Ma'am' |
Dunno 'bout that... I clicked on 'ship' on the notepad... and.. nothing happened. Maybe the ship was too far away for even Notepad to I.D. it ??
|
Edit: answer already given, no need to repeat it

These days ??? With the Internet... I wouldn't be shocked to find 'Avon Lady' to be a One Horned Flying Purple People Eater ! But I'm very happy to hear she IS a lady !

"Auto Ship Recognition" ??? I'm running GW 1.1.... but nothing installed except the Basic Files. I sure don't recall seeing " Auto Ship Recognition " anywhere. I guess I'll just have to get out there amongst 'em and try again.
|
thanks, I learned something new.

Some of Youse Bums are more 'experienced' than I thought...;)
By the way, I have a decent collection of 45's and recent collections of stuff from the early 50's.. which I put on CD's. 'Happy Times'...at least a whole lot less complicated, right ? Hey! 20 cent a gallon gas and Chevvy Six's with split manifolds. Twin Racoon tails and High Compression Hub Caps... |

FWIW, in the stock game, you can manually ID ships, even with the higher realism settings.
Click on the checkbox (the empty white box) in the recognition manual for the ship that you'd like to identify and its name will appear on the notepad (as the ship-type whose page you were viewing). Then you can later click on the word "ship" on the notepad to jump to the appropriate page in the recognition manual (which might be helpful if you'd since changed pages). This let's you keep track of ship types in a convoy, for example, when you might want to ID several ships and then come back to them for targetting. |
