Deeper!
What is the deepest you've been to and still got back home alive?
I made 420m and got back with only 25% hull integrity last night. No DC or shell damage only pressure!:dead: |
With wich Submarine?

@ Brewter Pilot
Just press D for normal dive |

The 'A' key will level you out and keep the current depth as it shows when you hit the 'A' key.

IIRC - Don't go below 500m as I think the game stops rendering graphics at that point. You'll be able to rise again but I think your sub will be invisible.

i managed 440m in a 7c42 without taking any damage, although i do have sh3 commander which i think alters/randomises the crush depths. the only way i could get that deep though was to dive to 300 and simply stop my motors and sink slowly, for some reason the game wouldnt let me dive deeper than 300m.

so far, only 340m:oops: I just kept on sinking by running 3knts in silent mode, couldn't level it up; why is that? Is sub too heavy to stay levelled at that speed?

What happens is that if you declare a crash dive but try to change depth to something else before leveling off from your crash dive your boat will be resting at an angle, stern up. This means that while being "level" you're actually facing down and will sink. The fix for this is to go above crash dive level (20-70m or so usually) and crash dive again letting it finish. That will level you out and you'll be able to maintain depth even as slow as 1kt or so again (depending on damage of course). |
thanks for the tip, but....I'm using GW:hmm:

Crash diving isnt the only thing that causes a slow doward drift or inablity to maintain depth at extreme depths. I'm not entirely sure, but I think its something to do with a natural flood rate between the different types of uboats, and at what depth your at.
If memory serves me correctly, you can illustrate this for yourself by taking a type 7 toextreme depth like 275 meters, and just stop the motors. Do the same with a type 9, what you might see is that the type 9 will have a harder time maintaining depth over time. It will slowly creep downards and you'll have to increase speed in order to maintain depth. Ive only noticed this behavior with extreme depths on a type 9 however. Type 7 seems to maintains depth perfectly. |
