What a freaking a**hole for taking kids as hostage, I would like to have one moment alone with this man. Pfff! :x

It may be a student who didn't get his way in class or felt picked on.

reminds me of the Columbine shooters.

The guy is violating the school zone no gun law.

Platte Canyon High School is located 46 miles southwest of Denver on Highway 285, near the Jefferson County/Park County line. It has about 467 students enrolled and was built in 1958 with an addition built in 2000, according to information posted on the school's web site.

I heard the situation is over. I also heard the gunman is dead and at least one student is in bad condition.

Nothing about it is on the news right now though.

Its over. The SWAT Team stormed the room and two people are dead. The hostage taker and one hostage. Shot by SWAT I suspect. An investigation of the deaths is in progress but by what I saw of the Park county sheriff's news conference the man knows that his officers fired the fatal shots on both people.

The current story is that the SWAT Team stormed, (no other hosages had been harmed) the hostage was shot and then the SWAT Team shot the hostage taker. I've seen SWAT tactics and the time line is more like, the SWAT Team stormed, fired their weapons and two people died.

I don't trust the police!!!

SWAT didn't do anything....the terrorist shot the hostage and then himself.

The girl was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead after they failed to resuscitate her.

There's one in Pennsylvania, and another in Vegas. The Vegas one got shut down before anyone got shot, or so that's the story thus far.

Back in my day, the Jocks and the Nerds weren't this outright hostile. Granted, I didn't really interact with the Jocks that much, but I didn't really hear about any open warfare between the social groups.

Kids are helpless that's why they select schools. These people who targets schools are nothing but chicken sh*ts. Why don't they go get rid of their rage in a military outpost instead. :o

Because "HOMELAND SECURITY" is a joke! Bush is more interested in oil and wars over in the middle east than to spend money on better protection for the childern of the US from deranged monsters like that!

It fits in perfect to the conversation thanks! Homeland security is to ensure the safety of ALL Americans (this includes school childern) and Bush is the man at the helm of all government and agencies in charge of protecting our childern - unfortunately!

The bad guy in this case was a "terrorist". He took hostages and instilled fear into his captives, therefore he is a "terrorist" and a man the US government agencies should have been tracking down from the beginning.

Why didn't homeland security and local police know about him? Where was the school teacher at? Why did the school teacher abandon their students to a madman? Why weren't there and gun detectors or police at the school (especially in Colorodo after Columbine) Too many barriers were passed by this lunatic and a kid was killed. I blame this all the way up to the Whitehouse and I stand by my statement!

The Problem is that in America you go Crazy very Easy. Not so here in Europe. ;)

Why did the school teacher abandon their students to a madman? He saved his a**, thats what he did. And i can't blame it on him, because i would have done the same.
