You sure your criminal class didn't like, take over the government or something? The criminals get off, the government guys get off, and the only one getting busted are the working class joe over rediculous laws!!!!
|
Actually, that's a pretty harsh sentence.
200 hours in public space, and 30-months walking to work. He'll be exposed to iPod muggers! :o |
A member of the general public would had got prison.:damn:
|
I wouldn't say he got off lightly, 30 month ban + losing his job (community service isn't worth the breath it takes to say it). Sending police officers to prison seems to be avoided as much as possible, probably due to the reception they'd get once inside.
|
Not to mention loss of both his job and his pension.
|
And 9 times out of 10 they get their pensions back after going to the human rights court. ;)
If they break the law which justifies a prison sentence they should get it. |
The British Home Secretary has said... We have the softest Justice system in the world and the highest crime rate in Europe.
And his solution is to build more prisons, sorry holiday camps. :nope: The Labour party is and has always been useless on law and order they are a waste of space. :damn:   |

Wow! You aren't kidding by light sentences out there! This only goes from 1981 to 1996, but you typically hit prison for 3 times the amount of time in the US than you do in England for the same offense!

Nemo, Don't forget this Labour Government has not just fiddled the figures and cooked the books, they have lied to us 100% :nope: :nope:
PS I am not having a go at you. I agree the whole political situation is a mess. |
Calling all members in the U.K. let's get talking about the British Justice system. Why has it gone soft on crime?
Political Correctness has played a big part in giving the criminals more human rights and weak politicians have not helped one bit. Along with stupid judges we have and all that Red Tape that has stopped the police doing there job. |
The guy was a cop (constable, or whatever it is you Brits call them). He should have known better. I understand duress, but there's also personal and professional responsibility to consider. Fortunately, no one was injured, so in this case some circumstantial leniency might have been warranted. I believe justice should be "served" on an individual basis, whenever and wherever possible.
This is no different than getting blown off a carrier deck after your wife just filed for divorce. You've got a professional responsiblity not to go for a skinny dip, but the drink crew has a professional responsibility to yank you out if you do happen to go for a dip. |
I think political correctness is the most evil thing to happen to society in recent time. It has eliminated free speech and even gone so far as to destroyed correctional institutions as found in this thread. Every country is facing this now.
At this point in time, we are probably as far away from free speech because of this as at any point in human history. In another thread, we even have an example of a persons opinion being ruled in a court of law as a crime! Islamists are also using it to destroy our foundations. Where does it stop? -S |
