Chinese man buys MiG through eBay

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/4962466.stm

Lucky him, I want one as well the trouble is where the heck do I park the Mig.

Linton 05-01-06 05:17 PM

Perhaps he could take it to see Jeremy Clarkson's Lightning that he has parked in his garden!

Fish 05-01-06 05:17 PM

We have one in the Netherlands who bought a MIG (Polish).

Kapitan 05-01-06 05:41 PM

You can buy a mig kit for $22,000 however you need a licence to fly it in europe and also you cant fly it supersonic.

Linton 05-01-06 05:46 PM

You would have to spend a lot of money tring to get an aviation authority to certify it,let alone an engineering company to maintain it or somebody to teach you how to fly it!The Raf shackletons that were preserved went to the USA where one occasionally flies. If you ever get down to South Africa Thunder City has some Lightnings plus a Buc.This is why you will never see a Vulcan or concorde fly again!

Kapitan 05-01-06 05:52 PM

The CAA says they are too complicated to certify for flight. its sad realy.

Here in Quincy, IL we have someone who buys Warsaw Pact planes and rebuilds them to fly himself.

Lucky bugger, I could easily go a Mig...But I would prefer an F-15 Eagle any day :D

Oberon 05-02-06 08:25 AM

ooooh, nice MiG....

Now...where are they selling the 29s and the F-18s?

Actually...since I'd be doing this through the fiance's ebay account I'd better look out an F-14 too... :D

EDIT: That being said, I just found a Hawker Hunter (not airworthy :( ) on ebay for £3,000

STEED 05-02-06 11:10 AM

MIG 29 sounds good to me.

nikimcbee 05-02-06 10:20 PM

...how 'bout a Foxtrot or kilo?

I want to buy a foxtrot or kilo...Maybe subsim could pool it's money together and we could buy a Typhoon. It could be the ultimate party boat

Belive it or not, there is a company, Air Capital Warbirds in Kansas, that is rebuilding an F-18 and an F-16 from parts. They might be sold already... They sell other high performance warbirds too, MiGs, A-4s and even F-8s  If I ever win the lottery, that jerk going supersonic over your house in a Crusader will be me

There's also a place in Rockford, Illinois that sells more mainstram warbirds but still way cool stuff!

Be careful breaking Mach 1 over Rochester or you'll discover what our pilots in 'Nam learned about small arms fire. Hay they don’t call us the Murder Capital of New York for nothing.

If I get the chance I’ll be dog fighting you with my A-4 Skyhawk. I wouldn't mind ziging through downtown office blocks with that!

:ping: The RPD could even call me in to do close air support for the drug raids in the more seeder sections of the city. A few 500lb snakeeyes are just what a few sections of the city could use. :ping:

[Kent Brockman]This just in, dope dealing down 75%. Malicious aerial strafing up 600%.[/Kent Brockman]

Rochester is the murder capital of NY? Weird, I've been through there a few times and it didn't seem like it. Learn something new everyday.

Yep the Murder rate is 3.49 times the National Average in Rochester. Buffalo is only 2.86 times the National Average, Syracuse 1.53 times the National Average, and Utica 1.52 times the National Average.
