European version of DW : Portsmouth meeting wtih Blackbean
The march 31th at Portsmouth (UK) Blackbean and SCS invite the european media to the Royal Navy submarine museum for a presentation of the European verison of DW.
Oneshot and a MS members were also present, waiting for SimHQ report, here the french version of the event: (Photo is courtesy of Oneshot, MS camera was out for the event  http://www.mille-sabords.com/forum/i...howtopic=11135 (in french) Here the interresting points of the presentation and interview with Jamie Carlson and BB representant: The european verison will be the last verison of DW 1.03, it come with a movie about the first nuclear submarine the Nautilus and a goodies trailer staring Jeff Tall a submarine commander (director of the RN Submarine Museum) . The campaign Red storm Rising is in the bundle and there will be some new MP scenrarii not found in the US version. The french version will come with complete translation of the in game text and manual but not the voices, so other countries can expect the same. At this time the OPFOR addon is still a project (the developpement is always linked to the sales of DW) so we have to buy at least 10 copy of DW each ! In the european list of paltform the german's are at the top of the list so no french minehunting or Agosta :nope: |

Hmmm .... Captain Nemo's Nautilus?
|
No, Bill Nichols' Nautilus. :yep:
http://www.subguru.com/nautilus571.htm Bill served on the SSN 571, which I think, all things considered, is one of the coolest things one could have done, and one of the brassiest, especially if you were on the first crew. "Ok guys, we are going to build this nuclear reactor, and then take this submarine..." |
This is so cool. :D I hope everyone in the UK buys it so there will be loads of new players... cos I'm a little worried about being outta my depth! *pun intended* sorry! :-j

The Interview (at least the Cameraman) was for/from TVE. Additionally some people from spanish Game mags were attending as well. As for translation, it will be the same as with german and french :
- Translated Game - 100 odd pages localized and abbreviated manual - Box localized. The full blown 500+ pages manual (PDF or split up and printed) will continue to be in english. |
Nobilis the french distributor of DW said that the whole 500p documentation has been translated in French.
|
Thank you very much!!! :P

Why does Jamie look exactly the way I thought he would... in fact, when I saw the picture, I tried my damnest to figure out where I had seen him before, and decided I hadn't, just my image of him was spot on... ok then.
|
@Olivier : That statement about the manual (i.e. language) came directly from Livio or Davide (can't remember which one right now).
|
I wish i had known this was taking place as I was off that day!
|
Glad to see he demo'd a decent platform wooweee the akula
|
I hope they have translated only the in-game text....
I would REALLY hate to hear a screwed speech translation :x |
What did Jeff Tall (director of the RNSM) make of DW?I have often thought about asking him to come up with a few mission scenarios!
|
CDR Tall was pretty enthusiastic about the game.

One shot where did you get the post for Cmdr Tall from as I couldn't see it above? Were any regular european subsim posters invited?I would like to have gone and seen the launch.I already have DW but my old laptop struggles with it so I still play SC a lot.Plus you cannot drive a t-boat in DW!
|
Thats not a post from him, thats an actual quote ... As for attending the event, I think Black Bean only invited representatives of the press (or parts of it) and some selected websites, Mille-Sabord and SimHQ being one of them. I was attending for SimHQ.
