This is a workshop
I have watched with interest, this forum, but I have not found, many persons available, for a modest help me to work with devlop.
...a true sin. This is a workshop, without collaboration with better. someone has forgotten the sense of WORKSHOP, it does not want to say exposure of MOD, but collaboration for work fine, and in order to obtain the best. bye, bye... |

Yep, and he have been watching us with int. :hmm: :rotfl: |
He needs help making a sin? :hmm:
The only help he probably needs is for someone to type in English words and sentences for his mod if that's what he's trying to talk about? Probably one of the UbiSoft forum childern who got lost and doesn't know where to find his mommy! |
I think everyone is being very unkind to one whose native language is evidently not English. We should encourage everyone to try to contribute.
The point is obvious - Werner1942 thinks that there is too much salesmanship of existing mods, and not enough collaboration on new mods. Provided Werner1942 allows an exception for the brilliant NYGM mods, then I agree. Stiebler. |
I highly disagree..
I personally like to have choices in mods..So the more people making them the better the choice I have. Also it is nice to see others take on the same idea. In any game I prefer to have many mods by many different people. This way I can change my mods around anytime I get bored looking at the same thing over and over again. |
I'm not beeing unkind , i just don't see how come someone that doesn't post here giving any kind of opinion or making an effort to change anything , says that we don't colaborate on the Mods in the "Town",... I could just say ok, but i don't think it's a big deal anyway what he said...
If i say to forum that the forum is a competitive forum, i also should point mi reazons to say something like that, as good or bad those reazons mite be... I think it would be kind of rediculous from me( And no offence mented) to come here and in the first post say: " Guys you don't colaborate as a team, this place it's anyone for himself." Anyway, i'm sorry if someone could take mi humor the rong way, it was not suposed to go that way!  |

Then there's Hemisent's sabotage mod, again, with input from myself, goudjg and others. All will radically affect gameplay. Look at JonZ's recognition manual. Lots of input there. Then there's SH3Cmdr, which would not be what it is *without* all the collaboration and suggestions of users here! In fact, all of the examples I have cited above have been posted here specifically for gaining input from *any* forum member. Should I continue? |

I think we can continue on and on, and it wouldn't make a diference JSC. Like you said it, this guy come and post something maybe on purpose to creat a rush argument:.. |
I have to say I agree totally with JScones on this one. Regardless of the language difficulties. What we appear to have here is someone who has made the combined total of.....um one posts, a person who has to my knowledge contributed nothing to these forums. Complaining and rebuking us for not offering to help with a project that HE hasn't told us about. I think that about covers it...

Beside I would add this... Some people seem see/reads as critizism when someone points glitchs or something that was wrong addressed, something that could be "easily" solved/to enhance a particular mod/gameplay in general. Unfortunatly I have to agree partially, with the message of original poster... "community of a few for a few" Where matters seem almost a secret/tabu discussing them, where certain matters cannot be reveled, mentioned either explained. And a flame feast of this topic seem to prove that! Anyway, opinions are always options and like any opinion it can be changed if there are enough motives for a change. |
I still think we should hide the key for the captains port in a better place next time :()1:

Oh, there's collaboration, trust me. The fact is that you don't see most of it - there is a large amount of communications that occurs behind the scenes and in private - and I'm not surprised. A lot of it deals with data changes that could break the game for those who aren't careful or patient to wait for the final release; others simply want to have their work finished before showing it to anyone. So, modders will often meet up and 'recruit' team members here, show their progress, but keep the real under-the-hood cooperation in private.
As someone's who's been part of a whole range of big mods - I can tell you that you're wrong, and you certainly would not see most of the improvements to SHIII without this forum. From RUb to GW, I think a great many mods would not be here without the modding hub that is the Mod Worrkshop. To a visitor the cooperation isn't always obvious; to a regular - it's well-known. :hmm: |
When I kitbash new ships, I usually discuss the progress with other modelers and get and give help whenever it is needed or required. A lot of this has been done through PM's - no point in boring everyone else to death with details that are specific to one project.
And it is certainly not a competition - not to me anyway. If it were, Iambecomelife would be the clear winner at kitbashing, as his ships are the best kitbashes available. I also believe that Cdr Gibbs and Sergbuto are working on entirely new models behind the scenes (although I do not speak for them) - I guess there would be no point in sharing until it were finished. Neither of them are hiding secret info - I have received help from both of them through PM's when I needed it. I have gotten PM's myself from people wondering why I won't release more of my kitbashed merchants. The fact is, most of them would crash the game if torpedoed. I haven't had time to work on them in the past month, but I am certainly not being stingy. When they are ready, I will release them - actually I hope to have another one ready this Saturday or Sunday. :know: Anyway, I think that this guy (forget his username) had a real problem with conduct on this board, he should have been more specific. Although maybe he PM'd someone and they refused to help him, or didn't have time. If that is the case, don't give up here yet. |
Yeah... I can give me as an example, since i don't know yet how to mod some stuff in the stock game i add tryed and allready helped other Expert Modders with other stuff, like little detailles , that i'll
not mentione here cause it was private talks , so i allways try to help the way i can, what i do best, research for materials and fotage that can be used to Mod some graphics in game, and even slowlly i've been able to bring some minor improvements to some Mods.... I bellieve that like in mi case, there is Lot more guys here that like misellf, help, and develop parts of the Modding in all diferent ways... Research , also think that it's not correct to come to other web forums judging without knowing... There made mi point! :hmm:  |
Stiebler said (evidently unwisely):

The moderators have recently decided to move all mod-related posts from the main forum to this workshop forum. It is not for me to say whether they are right or wrong, but definitely it has changed the mix of posts here. Stiebler. |
