decompressing & installing Grey Wolves mod
:(
I downloaded the 6 part Grey wolf 7z files ( and readme) from U-Boot realsimulation.com. When I attempted to decompress using 7z 4.32, the 7-zip file manager informs me "7z not supported". I re-downloaded 7z and reinstalled but got same result. any ideas? |
Try right-clicking the archive in Windows Explorer, then select 7-Zip/Extract here.

I tried winrar. according to it 'no archives found'.
Can I download grey wolves from anywhere else? The files themselves must be faulty. |
I got mine from U-Boot realsimulation.com and they uncompressed just fine with 7z. :hmm:

It looks like my downloads were incomplete. The first part is only 5293K. What threw me was getting duds on two consecutive attempts.
I'm re-downloading the complete set again. Let you know if I still have problems. Thanks fo all your help and orry I didn't spot the mistake myself. |

Hello,
i encountered another problem, or have a question (Teddy, don't listen lol) . In the readmeFirst file of the GW mod is written: "4. When prompted to "overwrite" the data folder on subsequent copying from each portion click "Yes" 5. When you come to the folder listed as GW Documentation and optional mods DO NOT copy to the data folder. Simply paste this NEXT TO the "data" folder in the folder you created in step one." This is a bit mistakable - am i really supposed to overwrite every data folder ? If i do this there will only be the last one from GWPart6 in the Grey wolves folder i created on the desktop. Or should i copy the CONTENTS of the data folders into the first one copied and overwrite previous files ? :hmm: Thanks and greetings, Catfish |
No. You should do as the readme states! Trust me, all files will be there.

Hey, this was fast - thanks a lot !

decompressing & installing Grey Wolves mod
Thanks for all your help. I managed to re-download the complete set. My files 2 and 4 were short measure. It took two attempts each before I got complete files.
I installed the mod over a fresh install of SHIII & 1.4b. No problems. I've tried it once. It works. I'm not so good, found a convoy and was bounced by a Black Swan. It sunk me. Two minor questions - unrelated. 1 - when were Black Swan frigates first commissioned? I thought Frigates (as a better corvette) were later in the war. I'm in Sept 1940 and they are as common as fleas! 2 - anybody been got by a 'ghost' destroyer? On at least 6 occasions, I have been attacked by a surface warship but NO sound contact. I can hear the ship running over me and the crew keep telling me 'We're being pinged', but sonar keep reporting 'no sound contact'. Maybe I'm being picky but I don't like being sunk by a vessel I can't hear or see, especially as it don't give up. It gets me every time. And the depth charge attacks go on for ever. |

No, it happens when I'm deep as well as periscope depth (with it lowered).
It often happens after a 'real' depth charge attack, after the warships give up and leave (sonar reporting near, medium, long range contact then 'no contact'). But I'm sure I've been 'jumped' out of the blue as well. What hurts, is thay don't give up and without sonar info, I can't dodge! |
