Blair: how to make a complete idiot of oneself

In the past I have laughed about Blair proclaiming "Europe's and Islam's cooperation on the basis of shared values". But this time Tony tops even his own folly by miles and lightyears. I wonder what kind of desease is ticking in his brain. Or is it just lacking education?

These quotes are also referred to by non-Muslim sites, so I take it that the editor of that site did not distort his "remarks".

Once a fool - always a fool.

Unfortunately we will pay a high price for brain-dummies like this, for generations and centuries to come.

When they're dead they'll be lying but their lips won't be moving. :nope: :hmm:

Here is the official transcript of Blair's speech.

Notice the differences?

Blair: how to make a complete idiot of oneself

Some of his remarks make sense and my even be prophetical:

Quote:

"The most remarkable thing about reading the Koran – in so far as it can be truly translated from the original Arabic - is to understand how progressive it is."
It is indeed remarkable to understand that the Qu'ran is progressive.

Quote:

"I am not qualified to make any judgements. But as an outsider, the Koran strikes me as a reforming book..."
Certainly British society is being reformed lately.

Quote:

"It is practical and way ahead of its time in attitudes to marriage, women and governance." he said
These words may be prophetical. I can only say I share Tony's fears.

Quote:

He added that under the guidance of the Qur’an, the spread of Islam and its dominance over previously Christian or pagan lands was "breathtaking".
Altough Blair is using an euphemism and tries to speak 'politically correct', we have to admit that he's right.

@ Skybird:
You have taught us the same story in other words...
:D

Skybird 03-26-06 08:56 AM

The Qu'ran - progressive...? A reforming book? Ahead of it's time with regard to marriage and women...??? And by the original speech script I still don't get what Blair means when calling the conquest of Islam "breathtakling". Is it a disgusted or an admiring statement?

I think Blair is talking without deepr knowledge and insight both into the scritpures of Islam, and history. He falls victim to the popular follies there are about Islam.

Can't disagree more with you, Abraham. I want to remind you that Blair is the head of government who was the first in europe to condemn the Danish, although Brtish governments have nothing to say about Danish affairs, and that representatives of this government where amongst the loudest voices demanding that free opinion in Europe should go silence, that newspaper should not print suppoort for the Danish cartoons and positions, and that the West should apologize to Islam for practicing according to it's own rights, values and traditions, in it's own place.

Nice selection of quotes. The problem with Blair isn't that he has no iintellectual capability, as you have only to see him debate in Parliment to see he's no idiot; rather its that he has no conviction. He's the worst kind of politician because he tries to please everyone. This is impossible, you have to stand for something. That doesn't mean you have to close your mind to everything else and surround yourself with sycophantic yes-men, but you have to have at least enough backbone to call a spade a spade.

I'm amazed that Blair can even stand upright, lacking as he does any spine at all. He is, truly, a yapping poodle.

Why are you calling me an idiot skybird?

Tony Blair is the worst Prime Minister of all time he can not be trusted one bit as I remember when he first came to power he promise their would be no sleaze in his party. And look at them corrupt to the core; this is one stinking Prime Minister I will not miss. I look forward to the first book on the Blair years stating he sat on a massive majority and did nothing its all smoke and mirrors with that grinning moron, I am paying higher taxes under him, and what has he done. Put this country well in the red, Blair is a vile snake in the grass.

:hulk: :hulk:

Kapitan 03-26-06 12:16 PM

Here here steed my council tax bill just went up by 100% i was only paying £331 per year (due to my nan) but they seem to think that its now ok to charge £1,336 per year.

And do we see the money being spent anywhere ?

Show me a political party that hasn't got sleaze. It's the nature of the animal. All politicians are legalized con men and I have never seen a politician that wasn't rich.
So as the public our job is to try and pick the least sleazy, close our eyes and ears and hope for the best. Unfourtunatley the public closing their eyes and plugging their ears has got us in a world of hurt.

scandium 03-27-06 03:55 AM

There's a certain common mindset that rich politicians are somehow immune to corruption because of their wealth. I don't see it. In fact they're paid well enough that, rich or poor, they don't need to supplement their income with graft.

I don't think you could find a party immune to "sleaze", its more a question of how deep the rot goes. It may sound naive but I think there are and have been many politicians who aren't corrupt. Former US President Carter, for instance, whatever his other faults, didn't strike me as being on the take.
