A picture's worth a thousand brags, especially where fish are involved. Congratulations!

:D Wow, what a catch. Congrats.

Torplexed 03-10-06 09:39 PM

That is an excellent catch StdDev...

Brings up a dilemma. Do you mount it on your wall or eat it? :hmm:

PeriscopeDepth 03-10-06 10:32 PM

280 pounds of fish!

Time to have an Ahi Tuna party: appetizers, main course, salad, and dessert all made with Ahi. A keg of Ahi juice?

Good catch StdDev.

BTW, where in Socal was it? I went whale watching a week ago in San Diego and that boat looks awful similar, but I suppose they all do.

TteFAboB 03-11-06 07:12 AM

Wall.

If you can find one strong enough to hold it, that is.

Sailor Steve 03-11-06 02:07 PM

On a second look I noticed: that's a lot of blood on the deck. His or yours?

The Avon Lady 03-12-06 03:28 AM

Sushi! :o

Between this thread and the herring posts elsewhere, I'm hungry again!

The trip started in San Diego at Point Loma Sportfishing.. the boat is the Independence. The fish was caught at Hurricane bank which is approx. 350 miles s/w of Cabo San Lucas.

Its Fish blood... my mess was in my underware.. that picture of the gaffing was actually the second attempt.. on the first attempt the fish pulled two gaffs into the water out of the deckhands hands and went back down to deep color.

notice the holes in the fish's head from the first gaff attempt..
many fish are lost at gaff! I was paniced until they got the fish on deck.
Also explains the profusion of blood on the deck
