caspofungin, I believe you've misunderstood. You see, the reason it'll only hurt the soldiers is that the gamma particles (photons) are intelligent and spare the civilians. :yep:

Seriously, the article is rather crappish.
While the theory about anti-matter is well known, and some anti-atoms have been created, we're still years from making quantities large enough for a bomb, let alone methods to keep them stable until detonation.

And the antimatter research is for now left to scientific institutes rather than military researchers. (Although militaries are interested in the research done.)

All this money to build new advanced anti-matter bombs and the AK-47 just keeps going and going and going... ;)

So...once we do this, how long 'till warp drive?

If we had it today... 57 years... gotta maintain the timeline ya know, Temporal Prime Directive and all... ;)

Its obously BS Xabba. According them them nearly every thing in the universe is created by a Type IV civlization (Kardashev scale) or by beings living in a black hole. Although they are partially correct I am a Type IV being from hyperspace who created the universe to experience physical existence.

Thanks for pointing that out TLAM. It's PHOTON torpedoes that use antimatter in the warhead (those are the red ones, not the blue ones).

Let's see, I believe the person who wrote this article may have some 'special problems' with physics.

Also, despite the extraterrestrial technology, we still haven't been able to produce more then tiny amounts of antimatter. No one in the defense industry is working on antimatter weapons (though I wouldn't be surprised if some basic thought experiments may have been done about them). However, powerful antimatter weapons may indeed be possible in the distant future (the young among us might be alive when the prototypes come out) if a method can be found to produce them with far greater efficientcy then our present capabilities.
