That creaking sinking sound
I don't like the exploding underwater thing I see/hear in Silent Hunter III when a ship sinks. What happened to the authentic real sounding underwater sinking ship sounds that Silent Hunter II had? Is there a way I can put the more realistic sounds of Silent Hunter II into Silent Hunter III?
 |
Yes I miss that also, in SHII you could hear the hull breaking up as the
ship goes down to the bottom. We need a sound mod for that! |

I AGREE! :yep: :yep: :yep: |
perhaps a post on a SH2 forum might help you out?
|
It's probably a "Quick Conversion"......for the Seasoned guys....
|
The sunken ship makes some weird sound's on bottom when currents
move it. I have looked ship setting on bottom in shallow water. hear it on my sonar :D Yes I remmber in SH2 the breaking up sounds don't remmber if SH1 had them. Lane :D |
AoD had nice creaking sounds if i recall correctly; anyway I bet you can find a nice soundpack at U boat realsimultion that would do the trick for you!
|
the solution would be to find a copy of AOD and find the file and use it.
Shouldn't be too hard... |
I found the "Creaking Sound".....with the bursting Bulkheads...
I had some "Old" mods' of SH2 saved. Now what i'm trying to do is figure out which sound byte in SH3 is the one for sinking ships. If i can figure it out...i can add the "Bulkheads Bursting" sound..... And then test it of course.... |
double post sorry
|
"Sounds" good to me Hudsonhawk.
 |
Guys if you get a sound file or fine one that works please tell us .
Thanks  |

Can I borrow this thread for a quick quoestion?
Which sound file is the wake sound, when the bow hits the water in a rough seas? I tried the BadWeatherWave or something like that, but I think it´s not that. Thanks in advance! Oh and Hudson, get testing already! I want that sound!!! :D |
That creaking sound was the BEST part of sinking a ship in AOD!!!!
Then we just need to add a sound file of the sonarman saying "I hear the death sounds of a sinking ship!" instead of that annoying "YAH!" by the helmsman.... |
The ship breaking up sound is in there, but for some reason it doesn't always play. I can hear it if I use the external view, but no matter how loud I turn it up I can never hear it from inside my boat.
My sound collection includes the breakup sound from DBSM, but still there's the same problem-it's there, you just can't hear it. |

The same sound is also used for the wind as it brushes past your u-boat, and also for the bow waves of AI ships. Personally, I turned it up about 50% and now I feel like I am actually in a real ocean. I also turned up and made personal mixes of these other sounds (though I have many more ;) ) amb_OceanSkyline amb_OceanSkylineLight amb_Rain amb_RainLocal amb_Underwater amb_Wind1 Submarine waves lap Wave Bad Weather I just love the feeling of being in a powerful ocean. |
Is there a difference in the sound you hear while surfaced and submergd or do you hear it all as if it were the same? I ask this because it seems pretty stupid if I can hear exactly as well the sounds of explosions from my periscope as I can hear them from the bridge. Shouldn't we be able to hear only an explosion while surfaced but not the creaking sounds of bulkheads bursting and vice versa while submerged? Is the game calibrated to this effect?

Do you guys go to Sonar station and listen ? that's were I think you
would heard these breaking up sound's the Sonar operator should hear them ? You sound guys know more about those sound files then i do :D That 's were I have heard those weird sound after the ship sink's to bottom and the ocean currents move the ship around. I guess the ship breaking sound's could be hear by crew inside the U- Boat? have not watch Das Boot for a while :D just my two cents :-j Lane :D |
