[REL] Periscope Wake Splash for FOTRSU 1.46
I've made additions to the Sensors_Sub_US. dat file found in FOTRSU that make it possible to have a realistic periscope wake with a small water splash effect. This is a purely cosmetic improvement and will not make your periscope any more detectable, either visually or by sensors.
Fully compatible with 1.46 and the latest update from the FOTRSU team. This work is based on an older mod called "SensorsWakeSplash_PreWar_Midway_Career". Credit goes to "W_clear" and "The Beast" for the original work on the effects. I simply made their work compatible for use with FOTRSU This mod is JSGME ready... or you could manually replace the Sensors_sub_US.dat file found in Library > USSubParts. Always make a back-up if you wish to go back to the original. This mod is only compatible with FOTRSU Hope you enjoy it. regards, Canonicus aka "Dave" https://i.ibb.co/JQzj41q/sh4-2021-05-26-08-36-22.png Download link... https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/dow...o=file&id=5883 |

The mod is causing CTDs in my FOTRSU 1.46. I donīt know why. Disabling it, the game works fine.

Greeting K.M_U669:salute: |
Sorry to hear about your troubles. I've been using this mod for many months before it was released and had not experienced any problems, so I'm not sure why you would be having CTD's.
The only thing involving FOTRSU 1.46 was a modification to the Sensors_sub_US.dat that added nodes (copied from another mod) that would allow for the generation of the splash effect to become visible in the sim. The Sensors_sub_US.val that is in 1.46, already had the particle generator and the effect particulars set up and ready to go. With the addition of the nodes in the dat file, the effect was now possible. |
CTD the same, very strange:hmmm:
I quite understand the mechanism this mod made and try to repeat the work on a orignial .dat file, but fail again....with unknown reason.:wah: |
Look for ID conflicts, where the "splash" is calling something else maybe with the same ID number, or maybe the same name??

Looking in the particals.dat & sim?

:nope:
It's all really simple to solve. I just don't have the time at the moment. |

Want to say, that I was looking forward to trying out your work with the mod, Canonicus... & don't want it being taken as disparaging your hard work & efforts... but, sadly... I must also report that, I too, had a CTD after including it into My mix. I shall keep an eye out for any word of this being corrected, as I would love to see its inclusion as a mod to further enhance FotRS. :yep: M. M. :Kaleun_Salute: |
periscope splash..
Yes for my part I am thinking of a problem with parent ID different construction ... but :hmmm:

Yes...I see the difference which is so obvious. Why it escaped my attention i cannot say. I have uploaded a new Sensors_sub_US.dat file with the correct
id construction. Perhaps this will solve the problem..i hope. |

I would never take anyone's constructive criticism as anything else than that and appreciate that my small contribution would be a welcome addition to any future FOTRSU update. Hopefully whatever the cause of the problem is, it can be quickly resolved. |

No worries  , is just that I know that text communication can be.. misconstrued (not that misunderstandings can't occur even in actually talking to another.. :yep: it can & does happen..), & for that reason is why I added that. I for 1, never want it being though of as anything I say, to be thought of as disparaging. Will see of grabbing the new download & testing it out, as soon as I am able to. Here's to the issue being resolved.. & thanks again, for your hard work & effort. :Kaleun_Cheers: M. M. :Kaleun_Salute: |
scope splash
Hy Canonicus :Kaleun_Cheers:
I want to "test" when your work will be available thank you ... after that I have some question for you ... |
Sure... I'm at your pleasure to communicate anytime you wish.
I'm hoping that those who have experienced problems when using this mod will have relief with the corrected Sensor_Sub_US.dat file which i think is in proper order now. ...and to those who are not having problems...hope you are enjoying the little splash made by your scopes. :salute: |
