Unable to patch SH3.exe

I have installed SH3 from scratch using my Direct2Drive download purchase. It installs as 1.4. This appears to be 1.4b.

I downloaded the V16B1-Patch-Kit

I am running Patch_SH3.bat as administrator, and my original SH3.exe is in the folder with it.

It says no compatible version of SH3.exe found.

Any ideas?

Steve

Hi mm
Make sure the file is setup to write and is not read only.

You copied and pasted your unpatched SH3.exe from the main game folder to where the Patch_SH3.bat file is?

Yup, I just did a complete uninstall and re-install of SH3, then copied the file into the folder with the bat file.

When I try to run the bat file, it says it's not recognized.

Product version of SH3.exe is 1.4.0.1.

It is not read-only.

I'm running Windows 10.

Hi mm
Seems like an administrator or permission problem.:hmmm:
The new folder you created for the application must not be read only.

If you are running Windows 10 make sure that you are running it in Windows 7 compatibility mode and also as an administrator.
Make sure you bat file can write to your SH3.exe

I can make new files in the folder so it is not a permissions problem.

ok just ran it again by a simple double-click and it worked.

Hi mm
That I would find frustrating and annoying but also a relief.

Hello I'd like to continue this thread because I have the same problem and I still don't know what to do to fix it.

I have my sh3.exe in the V16B1 folder with (I guess) removed read only attribute, also I have installed GWX3.0.

Make sure your exe applications are set to run as administrators.
I am sure someone who has some STEAM knowledge will be able to help you.

Note > You must run Windows 10 in compatibilty mode for Windows 7.
Make sure your gpu is set correctly to run SH games.

Load it up. As it's loading look in the lower right-hand corner. This will tell you which version is running. It may already be 1.4b, in which case you're good to go. One note: It won't say 1.4b, it will just say 1.4. A mistake on their part, but there it is.

Of course it may not already be at that level, but one thing at a time.

If problems persist, you might want to try this:
SHIII_1.4b DiscScratchProtector Utility By Maik
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...59&postcount=1

I had a problem with "sh3 not found" and used a similar archive from another site that had the files the installer was complaining about and got past the error

While it is setup to remove Starforce Protection, it has updated SH3 files in it that you could place in your directory to see if it gets past those "file not found" errors
Unpack and copy the files reported missing into your installation folder.

Greetings THEBERBSTER and SteamSub!

What you guys are doing here is promoting the use of cracks! Both of your links point to cracks, only hidden under a changed name!

There has been a legal version around and I keep wondering why this is never mentioned instead of promoting the use of crack-archives: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=steam%20starfor...20%53%46%53%46

THEBERBSTER 12-13-18 04:28 PM

Hi Blackswan
There is nothing cracked in any of my tutorials SH3-4 or 5 that has been put there by me to my knowledge.
None of my thousands of posts contain anything deliberately hidden or promoting anything illegal.

I find your post and accustaion quite slanderous.

The Steam SH3 should already be at the correct version for you Blutenburg. :salute:

Not speaking to SteamSub's link here Blackswan (I'm not familiar with the Star Farce junk), but you have a signature that states "if my question has been answered before, i will be happy when you give me a link"... This is a similar situation. Look at the badges THEBERBSTER has been awarded here. Look at how long he has been a member here. Read the forum rules, and realize how your accusation sounds and looks... I do believe an apology is owed to Peter by you, immediately, if not sooner... :salute:

Jeff-Groves 12-13-18 07:20 PM

Ubi themselves gave the OK to pass around the HACKED Star Force files.
There is or was a post about that here at Subsim.

The files included in the links ARE those files. NOT the Non-Star Force files in newer versions which never HAD Star Force.

A quick look at file sizes will tell you that.

You Sir owe a BIG apology!

I'll rate that at 'Next time I want your opinion? I'll beat it out of you!'
;)

ubisoft authorized the removal of "starforce" in 2009, the same Star-force.com has released a free removal tool,

http://www.star-force.com/support/drivers/

And as @Jeff Groves wrote Peter's files are "official" and absolutely legal

moreover the "Steam fix" option only changes the default "steam" path by moving SH3 out of the folder "program (x86) operation allowed now directly from Steam ---> settings..

Blackswan1940 I do not understand where it would be "crack "!!!!
Next time better think before you write rubbish
