R.I.P David :(

4 Days prior to his passing he released this music video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-JqH1M4Ya8

Quote:

Look up here, I'm in heaven
I've got scars that can't be seen
I've got drama, can't be stolen
Everybody knows me now
What a powerful note to leave behind, sir :salute:

To say I'm absolutely devastated is an understatement. In the early seventies I served a four year apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer and my peer group called me by the name 'Ziggy' because that was painted on the back of my motorbike helmet along with a portrait of him on the cover of my haversack.

RIP Ziggy.....Probably freaking out on some moonage daydream right about now

Well, that's a real kick in the guts, I grew up with his music, my Mum is a big fan, back in the day she even had the whole orange hair and lightning stripe make-up.

RIP David and thank you, thank you for everything.

The passing of a great performer. I saw him live at Wembley Arena on the 'Serious Moonlight Tour' back in '83. There were rumors that that would be his last tour!!
There's not many of the 'Greats' left now.
R.I.P. to one of the biggest influences in music ever.

Planet Earth is Blue,
and there's nothing I can do.

RIP David Bowie.

I never conciously listened to his music, and only saw part of a film he was in, but I'm still saddened to learn of his death.

Rest in peace, sir.

:(
R.I.P. Have always liked him and his music.
Mr. Bowie, we will miss you!

The Thin White Duke is gone.

His saxophone sound (along with that of contemporary Andy Mackay, of Roxy Music) is what inspired me to take up the instrument.

Saddened to learn of his loss . I remember reading a piece where David Bowie asked a young unknown guitarist by the name of Stevie Ray Vaughan to join his band . Stevie said no as he would have had to leave his band of Tommy Shannon and Chris Layton ( double trouble ) behind.

Stevie agreed however to lend his considerable guitar talents on David Bowie's song " Let's Dance " which was also the name of his 1983 album.

Rip

From Diamond Dogs

Quote:

Oh caress yourself, my juicy
For my hands have all but withered
Oh dress yourself my urchin one, for I hear them on the stairs
Because of all we've seen, because of all we've said

We are the dead
We are the dead
We are the dead

R.I.P. David Bowie :wah:

Bowie didn't have the finest voice in the land. It wasn't in the top 40% even. But he was always 110% of what he could do, while the vastly more talented voices were always coasting at 40%. Or 80%. It was always the "Shark Tank's" perennial question, "Would you rather have 50% of a vast fortune or 100% of a very small pot?"

Bowie said "I'll take 100%. And he corralled that into a vast fortune of a life's work as a perpetual innovator in art, music and drama, following no one but followed by all.

I particularly liked him in Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence which I saw in the theatre. He will be missed. From his latest album Black Star:
'Something happened on the day he died
Spirit rose a metre and stepped aside
Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried
I’m a blackstar, I’m a blackstar' :hmmm:
