MORE GENERIC PATCHER PROBLEMS

Having problems with latest version of the TDW_Generic_Patcher_v_1_0_94_0
I have it on the left side of JSGME as instructed on page 3 and the instruction is to right click on the patcher folder and EXPLORE
Step 4 is use the patcher. The instruction is “double click on GenericPatcher to open it. Select FILE – open. When you double click on the Generic Patcher it goes to Run. When you accept Run it adds a Generic Patcher CFG file to the list. (There is no mention that this should happen.)
The next instruction is to point the file to – C:\Ubisoft\ Silent Hunter 5\Mods\TDWpatchv1.067 now updated to 1.094. What does it mean point the file to? The only folder in the Mods file is the one in JSGME that I did the explore on TDW_Generic_Patcher_v_1_0_94_0
The next instruction is to select the TDW_SH5_patches.s5p and OPEN and point it to the folder TDW_Generic_Patcher_v_1_0_94_0 Cannot open it as it uses a Windows Shell Common programme
Is it me, am I doing something wrong. Has anybody else had any experience with this latest Patcher?
Hope you can help
Best wishes Peter

Just put the TDW_GenericPatcher_v_1_0_94_0 in the SH5 main game folder .
Do the backups .
Point the folder to the SH5 main game folder .
Patch the files .

please sober, just a question: should I patch before or after installing the mods? plus, I have installed the patcher via jsgme. Is it ok, or should I just install it directly in the sh5 folder and then patch?

Doesn't matter before or after.
But best is to install patcher as stand alone:
- create a new folder on you desk and name it as latest patcher version
- unzip the downloaded patcher in it
- cut/past your foder created wherever you want (my documents is fine)
- open and clic the Mickey icon
- choose your language
- go file/open and give all the requested paths to your main game folder
- open again and accept all the windows appearing:

- you should get all the patcher lines as:
http://img15.hostingpics.net/thumbs/mini_310387215.jpg
- open lines by clicking on the little "+", and activate all patches you want
- take a snapshot of all your activated patches via file/take a snapshot, and save
- close and enjoy

I run GenericPatcher from a folder on my desktop. I've created a folder called 'Patched' and placed it in Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5\Mods. Then I just right clicked on

Sh5.exe
SH_NClient.dll
SHCollisions.act
SHSim.act

and copy them into 'Patched'. I then open the GenModEnblr and point the 4 TDW_..._Patch.s5p files to 'Patched'. I can then just enable/disable through JSGME. Seems to work just fine.

What I'd like to know is what is Orbit Listener? :06:

Thank you Fifi, Just another question: why my patcher doesn´t show the colored icons? has any case been reported where the program doesn´t show them? I just have the messages and the + sign

Problem with the file size..

Hi guys.

This is my first post here so hello to you all.

First I want to thank you for all the effort you have put into improving the game.

I´m trying to get TDW:s patcher to work, but it keeps complaining about the file size and wont let me patch all the files.

Welcome aboard :salute:

Have you patched the game up to official version 1.2?

Uppopaatti 06-15-13 02:08 PM

Thanks.
Yes patched it to 1.2. I tried before and after patching it to 1.2 same problem occurred. Do I need to use hexeditor?

No.. you don't need to use HEX-Editor..
Have a look at this thread - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=197960

Uppopaatti 06-15-13 02:42 PM

Yes I have looked it and every other topic about the patcher. I have dealing with this several days now and I´m running out of ideas.. Best I can come up with is editing the file size some how.

volodya61 06-15-13 02:48 PM

On exactly what file it complains about the size?

Uppopaatti 06-15-13 03:15 PM

With .exe and collisions.act. Sounds I can get patched.. weird:/\\!!

BigWalleye 06-15-13 03:51 PM

What does the error message say?

SHCollisions.act you can find in the post #2 of the 'How to' thread..
.exe :hmmm:.. are you sure you're using non-steam version??

Uppopaatti 06-16-13 10:58 AM

Yes I´m sure it´s non-steam.
Error message was about the file size, can´t remember it all, but the file I was trying to patch was different than the patcher assumed it to be. But this is solved for now, I think the problem was in the patcher for v1.2. Tried another patcher and now it works.
Thank you for your time and effort

BigWalleye 06-16-13 03:17 PM

Without knowing the content of the message, I can't be sure. But I'm guessing that what you saw was not an error message, but a warning, to the effect that the patcher was about to change the size of the file being patched. If so, this is a standard warning with TDW's patcher and doesn't indicate that there is anything wrong. At that point, just click "Continue" (or whatever) and proceed with the patch installation.
