A video to restore a little faith in humanity

As most of us know, dash cams in Russia are there to catch the bad side of humanity, road rage, crashes, scams, but occasionally, just occasionally, they also catch the good side:

Not a whole lot to add, but a bump and a +1 for a nice post from a nice guy.

People are people, good ones and bad ones. It's too bad that the bad ones get so much press that we need our faith in humanity "restored". Still, it's always nice to see people doing nice things.

Thanks Jamie. :sunny:

Absolutely fantastic, a rare thing today, a video that makes you feel good!
Thanks.

I wish I could watch that video...but my internet is being spotty.

I don't have much faith in humanity anymore.

Thanks.

Thanks for posting this. It's very moving. Like the guy says in the Youtube comments, Russians are good people by and large.

They've had centuries of oppression, invasions etc and they've developed a deep spirituality. I hope the goodness spreads.

+1 on the posting. Was nice to watch.

Actually it's kind of sad that this behaviour has to be marked as something special. I try to live the way shown in the video (helping people who got stuck in the snow etc...and generally trying to be a nice guy) but I've noticed that this has become pretty rare or you get even looked down upon you by others.:-?

Penguin 05-07-13 06:18 AM

Nice one!

I must admit I expected any second that the guys beat up the grannies and rob them (or vice versa), or the person at 1:15 getting shot with an AK for touching another car...:arrgh!:

Great to see that kind of video for a change. But the pedant in me must point out a couple of things.

1. 4.36 - 4.43 is UK footage.

2. When our Norwegian lords and masters visit us and talk about how the company is doing they always mention the eastern European ventures, specifically trucks entering Russia (amongst others) where all the correct paperwork is supplied and still a substantial 'fine' is levied with no further paperwork given or requested. :hmm2:

But yeah, nice to see the good stuff.

Touching video to be sure.

As i was watching it though, it occurred to me that not once, in my entire life, have I seen anyone, help an old lady (or old man) across a street. In fact, I am hard pressed to recall being witness to ANY act of kindness from a stranger or good simaritian. Growing up in California, what I do recall seeing though, is people passing by any given scene, and not getting involved. Perhaps out of fear of physical danger, or out of fear of litigation, or simply because they didn't want to be inconvenienced. As the saying goes, no good deed goes unpunished. So, good people are few and far between.

You still haven't met me. When I was homeless I spent a lot of time riding around on the bus and train. I met several people from out of town (or out of country), and always found myself not only telling them how to get where they wanted to go, but actually going with them to make sure they got there alright. The funny part is that I don't consider myself a good person.

I have to disagree. I've seen many people do very good things, and not just in Utah.

I may have got it from my dad, who was one of several motorists who went to the aid of a motorcyclist who took a spill in a busy intersection (in California), but I think the reality is that there as many good people as there are bad. Most of the bad things and most of the good things take place out of our sight, but they are there.
