Where are the locations for the battles? (RSRD?)
Using TMO and RSRD, I remember being able to find huge historical battles.
but would like to know real locations :) |
You can find the locations in the history books as well as the date/time they occurred.
|
Search online for maps. More than just trying to find where the historical battle took place, RSRD does a great job starting groups from the right port or locations, so you may decide to attack at a better ambush spot.
If you'll let me know the base, month and year, I'll be glad to get you close to some action. |

Do I install that with generic mod enabler ?
|
Someone made a convoy map mod for TMO RSRD, I would use that.

Saves a lot of trips to the library or Amazon.com, and its a lot faster. I'm not sure how RSRDC handles fleet positions. In other words, do the fleets start at their actual starting ports, and sail all the way to the battle, or do they suddenly 'appear' at the battle position at the correct time/date. If the latter, they won't show up if you are closer than about 20 miles to the battle location when they are supposed to generate. I have been 'involved' with both Midway and the Battle of Tassafaronga (part of the Guadalcanal Campaign). Very exciting! I even sank a 'wounded' light cruiser at Tassafaronga (and lived through an eight hour depth charging for my trouble). Good hunting! |

That's interesting reading about RSRDC historical fleet we may encounter...but what about single merchants, if i may ask? :D
Hoping they are still working! EDIT: never mind...had the answer in other thread with Armistead... |
The good thing about RSRD and battles, if you study up enough, you can decide better ambush points to intercept TF. Most look just in the area of the battle itself, sometimes it's better to intercept it leaving port or in a narrow strait, etc..
Course, many enjoy being in the actual battle as often many planes are involved, surface battle, etc. |
That ambush tactic is what I did off the coast of San Cristobal, May 5th 1942 ... I got one of two carriers and evaded the escorts.
