Enigma Decoder

I downloaded the enigma application and tried it out last night...really good program which actually decodes messages found on the net from real messages during the war.
tricky to get used to but great fun messing around with it

Anyone else try this program?

I did, all variants from 3 to 4 rottor settings. Nice toy nowadays, serious headache for allies during ww2.

Yeah, it's good fun. There are a few enigma simulation apps on google play. One free, which allows you to copy and paste text into the sim.
I have an Enigma-E simulator (http://www.cryptomuseum.com/kits/) but I havent assembled it yet...

There really should be an Enigma mod, where you get orders/messages in code :-)

I dont know if they are sold as finished products. But it is not hard to put together, after what I have seen in my manual. Some basic soldering, but apart from that, it is just putting the right parts in the right place :)

That would be class alright...something to do on those long patrols while waiting for a ship.

Have you tried to decode any of the files from the huge selection by Karles...there are messages from every month of every year of the war in there.

Were they worth having a look at? Realistic and actual or just made up messages?

Troublous_Haze 02-01-13 06:53 AM

Still can't login

Keep trying it can be very slow, make sure you type in password etc not copy and paste, with caps where needed. But took me ages to get into it too. You will get in eventually.

I am only learning how to use the machine
Can you give me a little help here.

What are you using? Whermacht, Kreigsmarine set up?

Can you give me the day (Tag), rotor selection and order (Walzenlage), ring setting (Ringstellung),plug connections (Steckerverbindungen) and identification groups (Kenngruppen) to help me out .
Thanks
