Good news!

So this morning I had my practical examination to finish with on-the-job training and get my first ATC licence - and I passed!

It was a fairly busy morning (Monday morning rush hour in and out of Heathrow/Stansted/Frankfurt/Brussels) but it all went well.

Looking forward to looking after you up there :arrgh!:

Good news are a luxury these days.

Congratulations and clear skies (and a lot of turbolence for the annoying ones :arrgh!:

CCIP 10-08-12 12:55 PM

Congrats!

Something I have a lot of respect for and interest in... and sometimes still wonder if I could do as a career. Too deep into trying to get into my current one to even consider anything else though.

kraznyi_oktjabr 10-08-12 01:08 PM

Congrats!

Okay, flying is out of question. How do I get to London? :O:

Takeda Shingen 10-08-12 01:09 PM

Congratulations!

ATC? Like in Air Traffic Controller? Wowh. You depend on always staying calm. Better don't go online and visit GT while at work, else Boeings and Airbusses may start dogfighting up there... :D

GoldenRivet 10-08-12 02:50 PM

how is the job situation for controllers on that side of the pond? Can you walk right into a job or....

... do you have to line up and wait?

ba dum tshhhhhh

nikimcbee 10-08-12 03:03 PM

Congrats:salute:

@GR, hey dude, long time, no see. Are you still flyin'?

GoldenRivet 10-08-12 06:47 PM

I'm working too much... havnt touched an airplane (intimately anyhow) since February of this year.

Hell i havnt even seen my house since April.:nope:

geetrue 10-08-12 07:09 PM

That's great news ... not only did you get a job you got a great job doing something you like to do rag nag pilots lol

I wanted to do that, but Reagan fired them all in the 70's.

ATC is very close to what I use to do as a sonarman on submarines except we let the captain worry about what we were going to hit.

Respect!:salute:

Penguin 10-10-12 07:49 AM

Congrats, Tchocky! :salute:

Out of curiosity: Did you ever play "I am an Air Traffic Controller"?
Not exactly a hardcore-sim, but you certainly need the ability to multitask and to execute the right decisions under pressure. (I think I killed more people in this game than in Silent Hunter )

You guys can have all the laughs, but I am the one who lives only some 90km from Tchocky's place of work, my apartment is also on the upper floor... *cautiously looks up to the sky*

Reviving this to say thanks to everybody, I haven't been online for a bit. :)

Why you little.....:har:

@Penguin - I've never played that, no. It looks interesting! I'm not in tower or approach control, mind you. I work in an enroute centre, so everything is FL245+. Wouldn't know where to begin in a tower :)

"Oh, is that what they look like?"

It's never too early to start preparing for your next job. :salute:

Congratulations!
