A sanity question
 

Hi folks,

I was out today and happened to go walking past the local harbour, when looking at some of the bigger boats, i started deciding where i could hit them with my eels. Is this normal?!?!? Has anyone else had this strange feeling? I also saw a large cargo in the bay and had it all worked out how i would approach and send her to the bottom. I'm getting scared with this!!!!!!! :har::har:

Yes indeed. People have been posting for years about figuring angle-on-the-bow for trucks on the freeway.

When crossing my target's track on the road, I don't do the sprint ahead thing though. Not enough savegames in RL.

It's a known phenomena this SH3 getting into real life thing but what we don't know so well, are the consequences. What is the next stage? At least for some people like myself the symptoms include hanging out in Subsim, but sometimes I wonder what else will happen...

You know you have it bad when you redesign you room to look like the interior of a submarine. There was a thread a long time ago of a guy who did just that.

I live in a coastal town, so every time I see the cargo ships entering, passing and leaving the port I'm always trying to determine the AOB and speed of those ships...:arrgh!:

Well I often lie on my bed near my machine after going to "my bunk" and read a book with my earphones on to listen in to reports.

The Captain's bunk is ingrained in my mind and so when I switch my machine off and go to bed, I give a dive order, set speed to 2 knots, order a normal hydrophone sweep. Instruct the radio operator to play some tunes for the crew and off to the land of nod I go whilst planning evasion techniques.

I sneak the odd german word into sentences. :arrgh!:

I remember a certain KL doing just that with a cargo ship when we visited the USS Texas :03:

i think the worst it has gotten for me so far is actually wanting to find the BPs for a type XID2 or XXI, VIIC at the least and actually finding somebody to build it so i can live in a submarine.
only problem is the darn coast guard might think i am smuggling drugs :Kaleun_Goofy:

A very good idea and I made some initial calculations on the costs. A type VII C cost 4.8 million Reichsmarks to build. That's something like 2 million dollars in 1940. With inflation and stuff it would be like 32 million dollars today.

But... a type VIIC then was hypermodern technology. Nowadays it's scrap metal. And there's the dockyards in China with cheap labour. I think I'm going to see my bank manager today. I'll tell him I'm gonna build a type VIIC with the money he's going to loan me. He'll get the money back after I sail to Somalia, man the U-boat with Somali pirates and start getting some real ransom money extorted out of the tankers and merchants sailing between Asia and Europe :arrgh!:

Just ask the naval museam for their submarine or steal one from a military base.

Every now and then I hear myself utter "Jawohl, Herr Kaleun" for no apparent reason. Do I need meds?

Cheapest is one that looks like a real u boat from out side.
With additional cost it floats and moves.

Expensive toy to cruise around in sunny days. Owner can stand in connig tower wearing kaleuns cap. Bring some beer and friends make watch crew.

50 000 to 100 000 euros. Depending on cost of materials and labor, like in capitalism general.

Interior and diving capability is whole another matter. In Finland it is probaply illegal to build submarine anyways.

Making interior look authentic also cost and lot. Every valve handle, meter, gauge, instrument etc. have to be specifically crafted which is expensive.

I say lottery win or two to rent a drydock and lawers.
