SH5 Patches?
 

I ordered a DVD box version of SH5 today so I was snooping around to get the patches but Ubisoft only has patch v1.1.5 on their site. The game has been out for a while and I figured there would be at least major 2 or 3 patches for it because usually a .x.x is minor stuff. Anyway, I thought I better check.

Questions:
What's the latest patch? (is it really v1.1.5?)

OK, I'm confused...
Soooo...I see where they are talking about v1.2 on the Ubi forum but I see no patch. Is v1.2 only available via uPlay or what?

And, the 2nd link for an 'Unofficial version', what's this? I see lots of SubSim forum talk but no specific link to a patch 'official or unofficial' and there are over 700 messages there! Seems like they are talking about a bunch of mods...a whole lot of them.

I looked on SubSim/Downland/game patches but nothing there...

Edit: OMG! Now I found something else that is referred to as patch 1.3 by DarkWraith in March 2011..it appears that he corrected some real serious issues that UbiSoft either overlooked or blew off but...need an Hex Editor to do it (I think I have one from the old days) The patching of this game is...confusing to put it mildly. I don't know if I have the patience or time for all this as I have spent hours just trying to figure out the patching...perhaps this was a bad idea.

If you look at the bottom of post #1 of that thread I have an app that you can download to make patching the exe and act files as simple as mouse clicking :up:

All, What's the deal on patch v1.2. I didn't get an answer. Where is it and how do I get it? Or, is the DVD version all ready v1.2? - Rick

go to the path where you installed the game, for example C:\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter 5 and then go to Support\GameUpdater.

You will find a file "gu.exe" -- run this and it should patch you to V1.2 :up:

Just to clarify. Follow the instuctions by flostt and upgrade to 1.2
The reason is that 1.2 is from ubisoft even though they do not include it where you spoke of (ubi forum).
You won't be able to even run most mods and other upgrades until you do this first.
:up: It also fixes many things in its own right. You will want to mod your game after you really see whats available.

I know someone has recently re-uploaded this patch lately, but can't find the links now. The first one there works though, just checked. :up:

Yes Bill it does . But because you have the dvd version you can now patch the game to the unofficial 1.3 which is a mod .

OK, that's what I thought! I have all ready started to pull mods down, at only 10 a day it I should have what I need by the time the DVD gets here, about 10 days. I am going with Sober's list of mods and, in all honesty, quite shocked at how many it will take. Thanks again! - Rick

Yes, I did and thank you but it's for the EU (European) version. I have a yankee-doodle (US) version so I assume there is something diffferent between them and not wanting to cause myself problems before I even get started I thought it would be prudent not to mix them. Perhaps, I'm wrong?

I would prefer to manually update my game as I'm a control freak by nature but there doesn't seem to be a v1.2 US patch anywhere. Anyway, I have pulled down the EU 1.2 just in case you or someone else tells me there is no difference.

BTW how does one know what the game is patched to? Does it tell you in the screen somewhere? -Rick
