[REL] Algerine Class minesweepers
Hello!
Tired of big ships, I did the late-war escort minesweepers (or fleet minesweepers) of the Algerine class, of which 110 were built. I tried trading size for level of detail and that's the result: http://www.mediafire.com/conv/ddc951...941235466g.jpg Based on their characteristics, I classified them as corvettes (unit type 1). So, they happily will attack submarines. DL: http://www.mediafire.com/file/lmrgrw...lgerine_mod.7z EDIT: I updated the archive file; the Ship_names_MS_Algerine.cfg file has been corrected for typing errors Here's a direct link to that file: http://www.mediafire.com/file/akgadg...MSAlgerine.cfg Also, the model is my tribute to JuJuGrotjans artwork done during the intial phases of SH3 modding. I used parts of his textures when doing those of the Algerine. Good hunting -- the Frog |
AMAZINGLY great work!!!Love the detail level.Pulleys, huge cranes, lookouts and tons of cables.Just spent 10 minutes admiring it but now I want it in my campaign.I did what you wrote in the read-me.Does that mean I will see this in campaign...GWX?
|
Without having a look into the campaign files of GWX, I assume there are generic entries calling for British and Canadian corvettes. That given, there's a fair chance that they show up from '42 on.

Nice work as always the_frog.
Keep it coming. |
Great model! Very detailed.
I love it :yeah:. |
S! The Frog,
I agree this is a very very nice work. Thank you for your effort. :yeah: |
LemonA, what is the idea behind presenting a picture of HMS Hussar (J82), a Halcyon class minesweeper? :hmmm:
Are you hoping that to be built next? |
Post has been corrected

Have you considered applying to the HAHD team? They are in need of a good hand with 3d modelling, and have videos to improve your skills (IAW their thread). I am a cut-and-paste modeller, so I have not applied myself...

By the way, I'm really tired of the big long warships! Finally, a long-awaited minesweeper!:yeah: |
A small point: regarding brightness the Algerine picture does not fit to the rest of the recognition manual. It is too bright.
|
@LemonA:
Brightness of recognition manual image is that of stock SH3; some big mods (such as GWX) have darkened pictures. So, to make it fit, just use your favourite image manipulation software. The picture you showed is a digitally colourised (and horizontally flipped - whaler on wrong side, pennant number mirrored) b/w, right? It matches nicely texture T03 [= HMS Mutine (J227)]. @the rest: Thanks for the kind words |
Looks great! Installed now... and the new 4in mounting looks good too.

Frog, can you point me to file I can change that will have the minesweeper leaving port as you do.Right now when I leave port there is a Raeumboot class ship and I want your ship instead. Its GWX.....:salute:
|
@LemonA: That's the deckplan of a British-built Algerine, likely the one re-drawn by John Lambert. In addition to that, I used the copy of the booklet of general plans of thje Canadian HMCS Winnipeg (J337) as reference. The plan can be downloaded here:
http://www.hnsa.org/doc/plans/j337.pdf @wolfstriked: You want to be escorted out of port by an Algerine minesweeper? Well, they were British and Canadian vessels. Better stay in company with a type M35 minesweepers or some Räumboot (both in GWX). But it can be done ... The M35 mineswepers are classified as corvettes, as the Algerines. So, you first need to place a copy of the *.cfg file in the Canadian or British sea roster into the respective German roster. Next, you need to opend the scripted layer of the campaign files and replace the desired entries pointing to MS1935 by MSAlgerine. |
Great link. Downloading. Thank you.

STrange,I could swear that I posted a response to Frog yesterday....was drinking so it could be I imagined it...:o
